I am someone who enjoys audible books very much now that they exist. As a young student (real young) I can remember a teacher telling me how books can transport people to different places & open up a whole new world. This is how listening to audible books make me feel. Now if I can just stop falling asleep while listening to them at night I would be fine. Ha ha

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

in my opinion a total rewrite

Has In the Blood turned you off from other books in this genre?

I really am straining to review this book. For one thing the way it is written it forces the reader to pay close attention since it goes from the present to the past & back & forth. The book is in my opinion more depressing than intriguing which of course is only my opinion. It isn't that story does not compete with complicated story lines so that it would sell, but it made me feel depressed through the book because all it did was cover psychopathic behavior in children & adults, made comments about bad parenting, unhappy marriages, adds adultery, lesbianism, gender confusion & ends with murder. Even an unsolved murder. In my opinion too much! And as an educated mental health professional I found times I totally disagreed with the authors viewpoint as writtten.
When I got done I asked myself what the book gave me & although the story weaved in & out of the main characters life I ended up thinking this book really did not offer answers or solutions to the problems & left me feeling down. That is why I probably would not give this book my highest rating. This is not to say the fans of this author would not enjoy it, but for me it left me feeling the world sucked for the most part & some people just kept on suffering. Not my cup of tea.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Gretchen Mol and Candace Thaxon ?

I thought the narrators did a good job with what they had.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Hard to say.

    Any additional comments?

To me this is a good way to depress the reader.

"You can leave the army, but the army doesn’t leave you. Not always. Not completely," notes Jack Reacher - and sure enough, the retired military cop is soon pulled back into service. This time, for the State Department and the CIA. Someone has taken a shot at the president of France in the City of Light. The bullet was American. The distance between the gunman and the target was exceptional. How many snipers can shoot from three-quarters of a mile with total confidence? Very few, but John Kott - an American marksman gone bad - is one of them...

    Just about everything!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Absolutely, especially when you realize even the smallest comment from Reacher has a big meaning.

What about Dick Hill’s performance did you like?

He is a wonderful narrator who makes Reacher the character he is.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Watch your back, then watch it again.

    Any additional comments?

Nope, except read the book or listin to it.

Where does Mind Tryst rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very, very high in writing style, believability & intrigue.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mind Tryst?

I can't answer that it would give the ending away, I will say this - Wow, this book had everything a great mystery thriller book called for. It was like a cross between Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde & Sherlock Holmes. I liked everything about this book, especially how cleverly the plot kept unravelling & unravelling. From a psychological viewpoint it was mind boggling & I kept finding myself slipping into the place of the main character “Jackie.” Although I do not think I would have been as courageous & determined as she was. What is so sad is there are evil people roaming the earth like that.

What does Christina Traister bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I only use aufible books but she was great.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yepper, but I had to give my mind a break every once in a while as it was overwhelming.

    Any additional comments?

This was the first book by this author i have heard, but i think i will be coming back for more.

The story line was very good. It was a fresh approach to what could be called the evil in this world with a very suprising ending

I can't recall, but I did like this one a lot. It also proves how perserverance & dedication plays an important part in life.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Well, first of all if the story emphasis had not been on bad family realionships, alcholism. poverty, obesity, self pity, teen-age struggles. laziness, illness, self-centeredness, dirty houses, depression, people making poor choices all over the place, insecurities everywhere, broken marriages, poor parenting, who knows it may have flown as a decent book. But wait, maybe if the ending had come together in a way that was pleasing maybe, but the end only imploded in on itself. So no, nothing I can think of could have raised the rating on this book

What could Liz Moore have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    No Clue

What does Kirby Heyborne and Keith Szarabajka bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They were the only saving grace I even finished listening to it.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Heft?

I would suggest they start all over with a story that was entertaining & not so depressing

Would you consider the audio edition of The Trespass to be better than the print version?

Yes, in fact I consider this book the BEST book I have ever listened too. When I read one of the reviews from someone who said they stayed up all night to listen to it I was quite skeptical, but I found I was listening to it late at night AND during the day. This book, in my opinion could have been at least three full books of thrilling mysteries. It was totally fascinating & had me dumbsruck with guessing what would come next which did keep coming like water over a waterfall - non stop. i think Indiana Jones paled in comparison.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Trespass?

I can't just pick one & if I were to list them all I would be giving away the book. And we do not want that now do we? All I can say us if other people want a wonderful, exciting expereince with an audible book....THIS IS IT.

What does Chris Macdonnell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His performance was masterful & indeed flawless. He surely made this audible book a wonderful experience. He went on top of the list of my favorite narrators. Which makes it hard to listen to other narrators who are less enjoyable..
