Fully 100,000 years ago, the galaxy was populated by a great variety of beings. But one species - eons beyond all others in both technology and knowledge - achieved dominance. They ruled in peace but met opposition with quick and brutal effectiveness. They were the Forerunners - the keepers of the Mantle, the next stage of life in the Universe’s Living Time. And then they vanished. This is their story.

Kyle says: "Utterly Amazing, Mind Expanding"
"An informative journey into the Forerunner world."

    Story

Cryptum gives the reader a much broader view of the Forerunner civilisation. I felt the story draged on in many places, possibly due to its writing style being less action packed and not as relatable as the previous novels involving humans.

Still very enjoyable and a must read for Halo fans.

  • The History of Ancient Egypt

Ancient Egyptian civilization is so grand our minds sometimes have difficulty adjusting to it. It lasted 3,000 years, longer than any other on the planet. Its Great Pyramid of Cheops was the tallest building in the world until well into the 19th century and remains the only Ancient Wonder still standing. And it was the most technologically advanced of the ancient civilizations, with the medical knowledge that made Egyptian physicians the most famous in the world.

I have listened to many audiobooks on history and this is by far my favourite. Bob Brier makes you feel like you were really there. Whether you are interested in solid dates and facts, or the romance and wonder of Egypt, you will definitely not be disappointed.

"I was 22 years old, a hard-on with a pulse: wretched vice-ridden, too much to burn and not enough minutes in a hour to do so. 1995 was a full 365-day year of drinking, fucking, lying, raging and exploration for me - not a dull one in the bunch. It was a time of self-shit: self-importance, self-absorption, self-indulgence and selfishness. I was the only person in the known galaxy and I wanted what the fuck I wanted sooner rather than later." The action begins in Iowa, where Corey Taylor committs each of the Seven Deadly Sins.

    Elisa says: "A Rollercoaster"
    "Intellligent and hilariously writen."

    Story

Even if you are not a fan of Corey taylor; this book is sure to get you thinking, gigling and feeling better about your existence.

Corey gives a decent re-telling of his childhood and past exploits but has written this book as more of an examination into human reactions and emotions than a simple autobiography.

    Very entertaining and thought provoking!

When humanity expanded beyond the safety of Earth to new stars and horizons, they never dreamed what dangers they would encounter there. When the alien juggernaut known as the Covenant declared holy war upon the fragile human empire, millions of lives were lost - but, millions of heroes rose to the challenge. In such a far-reaching conflict, not many of the stories of these heroes, both human and alien, have a chance to become legend.

All of these short stories contain the same blow by blow combat (from first person to massive space battles), continuing forerunner discoveries and political entanglements that have made the pervious Halo novels so compelling.

Aswell as this; Halo Evolutions also brings a much more....vivid tale involving the flood.

A must read to all Halo fans.
