  • The Four Loves

    • UNABRIDGED (2 hrs and 7 mins)
    • By C.S. Lewis
    • Narrated By C.S. Lewis

In this remarkable recording, C.S. Lewis shows why millions of readers have acclaimed him the greatest spokesman for Christianity in the twentieth century. In a resonant, baritone voice, Lewis explores the nature of the four Greek words that are translated love in English: "storge" (affection), "philia" (friendship), "eros" (sexual or romantic love) and "agape" (selfless love).

William says: "Insightful Views on Love"
"C.S. Lewis read by C.S. Lewis"

This is an amazing piece. Considering it was recorded over 50 years ago, the quality is pretty good. I highly recommend it.

  • Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 49 mins)
    • By Mark R. Levin
    • Narrated By Adam Grupper
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Conservative talk radio's fastest-growing superstar is also a New York Times best-selling phenomenon: the author of the groundbreaking critique of the Supreme Court, Men in Black, and the deeply personal dog lover's memoir Rescuing Sprite, Mark R. Levin now delivers the book that characterizes both his devotion to his more than 5 million listeners and his love of our country and the legacy of our Founding Fathers.

Lenell says: "Conservatism, classical liberalism's heir apparent"

A great primer on conservative thought and why we think and believe what we do. My only complaint is that Levin didn't read it himself.

  • James Earl Jones Reads The Bible: The New Testament, King James Version

    • UNABRIDGED (18 hrs and 21 mins)
    • By Topics Entertainment
    • Narrated By James Earl Jones

In a voice as rich as it is recognized, James Earl Jones lends his narrative talents to the King James Version of the New Testament. In over 19 hours enhanced with a complete musical score, James Earl Jones interprets the most enduring book of our time utilizing the acclaimed actor's superb storytelling and skilled characterizations. Hailed as the greatest spoken-word Bible version ever, and with almost half a million copies sold, this exquisite audio treasury is certain to enthuse and inspire.

    Robert says: "Background music"
    "Errors were not corrected"

I love James Earl Jones. The man has an amazing voice. I also love listening to him read scripture as it is very soothing. As someone who knows the King James Bible, I did hear some uncorrected errors.

  • The Cost of Discipleship

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs)
    • By Dietrich Bonhoeffer
    • Narrated By Paul Michael
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

What can the call to discipleship, the adherence to the word of Jesus, mean today to the businessman, the soldier, the laborer, or the aristocrat? What did Jesus mean to say to us? What is his will for us today? Drawing on the Sermon on the Mount, Dietrich Bonhoeffer answers these timeless questions by providing a seminal reading of the dichotomy between "cheap grace" and "costly grace."

    Leon says: "Get this book"
"Wish I could score it higher."

As an historian and a Bible believer, I respect Pastor Bonhoeffer, how he lived as an unwavering Christian in Nazi Germany, and how he gave his life for his Lord.

This book, however, is simply a commentary on the Sermon on the Mount. He makes some very good points, and it is worth the listen, but I expected something different.

  • God and Sex: What the Bible Really Says

    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs and 29 mins)
    • By Michael Coogan
    • Narrated By Michael Coogan

In God and Sex, Coogan examines one of the most controversial aspects of the Hebrew Scripture: What the Old Testament really says about sex, and how contemporary understanding of those writings is frequently misunderstood or misrepresented. In the engaging and witty voice generations of students have appreciated, Coogan explores the language and social world of the Bible, showing how much innuendo and euphemism is at play, and illuminating the sexuality of biblical figures as well as God.

    Carpiesong says: "foolishness"

One of the first things he says is that the Bible is not God's Word, so it is dishonest for him to call his book "God and Sex." Secondly, he looks for sexual innuendo in the Bible where there is none to try to prove his points.

Guess what, Dr. Coogan, yes "feet" in ancient Israel could have been a reference to sexual organs, but guess what??? Feet can also mean feet!!!! What a revelation. Dying at someone's feet (Judges 5:25-27) doesn't mean that the person was killed while having sex! Yes, listener, this is the kind of laughable foolishness you will hear in this book.

This book was mistitled, a bait and switch. Instead of hearing what the Bible says about sex, I get to listen to a Bible-denier try to use the Bible to justify sin.

I implore fellow Christians NOT to waste your money or credits on this tripe. I want my credit back!!

  • America's March to Socialism: Why We're One Step Closer to Giant Missile Parades

    • UNABRIDGED (1 hr and 6 mins)
    • By Glenn Beck
    • Narrated By Glenn Beck

From massive government spending to media declarations of the death of capitalism, Glenn Beck hears the sounds of boots marching America toward a system of government that bears a closer resemblance to socialism with each passing day. To document this, he focuses on stories that range from the headlines to more obscure local stories that might otherwise be overlooked.

    Doug says: "rerun"
    "Dead on"

It was once said by a former socialist presidential candidate that while America might never accept socialism itself, America will accept every tenet of socialism under the guise of progressivism.

Beck is dead on (and funny).

  • 10 Books That Screwed Up the World: And 5 Others That Didn't Help

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 58 mins)
    • By Benjamin Wiker
    • Narrated By Robertson Dean
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

You've heard of the "Great Books"? These are their evil opposites. From Machiavelli's The Prince to Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto to Alfred Kinsey's Sexual Behavior in the Human Male, these "influential" books have led to war, genocide, totalitarian oppression, family breakdown, and disastrous social experiments. And yet these authors' bad ideas are still popular and pervasive. Here with the antidote is Professor Benjamin Wiker.

Aaron says: "Some merit, but more religious masquerade"
    "Absolutely on the mark."

This book is on the mark. The reader will be quite interested to see the philosophic/literary road that lead us where we are today. Fascinating and enlightening. Highly recommended.
