  • The Iliad

Combining the skills of a poet and scholar, Robert Fagles, winner of the PEN/Ralph Manheim Medal for Translation and a 1996 Academy Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, brings the energy of contemporary language to this enduring heroic epic. He maintains the drive and metric music of Homer’s poetry, and evokes the impact and nuance of the Iliad’s mesmerizing repeated phrases in what Peter Levi calls “an astonishing performance."

My only complaint is that the "next" function does not actually take me to the next book. I am a teacher, and would like to play the audio for my class who is reading from the textbook. The textbook only has certains books from the Iliad, but I can't find them on the audio, so it was a completely wasted purchase for me.

Stephen Leeds, AKA 'Legion,' is a man whose unique mental condition allows him to generate a multitude of personae: hallucinatory entities with a wide variety of personal characteristics and a vast array of highly specialized skills. As the story begins, Leeds and his 'aspects' are drawn into the search for the missing Balubal Razon, inventor of a camera whose astonishing properties could alter our understanding of human history and change the very structure of society.

Would you recommend Legion to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, it was a unique look at a character with multiple personalities and how he uses them to his advantage.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Oliver Wyman?

Yes, he very believably switched voices for the various characters.

Do you think Legion needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, this book actually seemed very short and the character could solve many more interesting cases.
