Meet Psmith, with a silent 'P' as in psychic. A gallant, charming individual, Psmith has a gift for getting into awful scrapes, and when he takes over a gentile journal known as Cosy Moments with the aid of Billy Windsor, its sub-editor, he turns it into a radical publication...with alarming and hilarious results.

"Poor sound quality in format 4"
    Overall

I hope the enhanced version is better. I almost couldn't finish this in format 4. The sound was very muddy and I often couldn't understand what the narrator was saying (a sin in a Wodehouse story). Love Jonathan Cecil and Wodehouse, but not this recording.

So getting humanity's trust is a challenge. The Yherajk need someone who can help them close the deal. Enter Thomas Stein, who knows something about closing deals. He's one of Hollywood's hottest young agents.

Loved every minute of it. The story has comedy, tragedy, suspense... Wheaton's performance is wonderful (and he seems to be one of the rare, male narrators that can voice female characters without making them sound exactly the same).

Nobody takes the LeMesurier curse lightly. Least of all any first-born son in the family - for it is deemed that he will not inherit the title. Can Poirot solve the riddle of the curse? The story dates from medieval times when an ancestor suspected his wife of being unfaithful and his young child of not being his own. In a fit of rage he killed them both - possibly by walling them up alive.

How lovely to have such a talented actor as the narrator. Mr. Suchet IS Poirot in my mind now and he does a wonderful job of voicing the other characters. After listening to this audiobook, I immediately purchased every Christie audio that he narrated. If you like Agatha Christie stories and enjoyed Mr. Suchet's portrayal of Poirot, get this audiobook (and all the rest).

When she found the body of her beloved Uncle Jonathan, Georgina's mind went blank. Instinctively, she stooped to pick up the revolver, thus becoming the prime suspect - especially as she stood to inherit a large fortune. But Uncle Jonathan had a second, secret will and the beneficiary is the wide-eyed, seemingly innocent Mirrie Fields. There is also the puzzle of the missing fingerprint. It was the showpiece of Uncle Jonathan's collection, acquired from a self-confessed murderer...who is still at large.

The main character - PI Miss Silver - appears late in this series opener, but she's worth the wait, and she knits. I've read my Agatha Christie stories so many times now I wished for something new, and heard about this series on a knitting blog. These are cozy English mysteries set around the WWII era. They are interpersonal relationship driven rather than "locked-door" mysteries (at least so far as I've gotten in the series). I don't mind if I figure out who done it before the end; the pleasure comes from seeing how Miss Silver present the facts to the police or Scotland Yard. The reader is perfect; with a clearly understandable English accent. I listen to these stories while knitting and thoroughly enjoy myself.

    Overall

I have read all the Honorverse stories multiple times and am delighted to see the unabridged books becoming available. I've purchased all the titles offered so far, and will purchase the rest (I trust the rest will follow). The narrator does sound a bit robotic at first, but either she's improved or I've grown accustomed to it. What does pull me out of the story, however, is the way she reads "character X took a DEEP breath" exactly the same way each time it occurs. That may be partly Mr. Weber's fault (though I never noticed the frequency of the phrase until Ms. Johnson's delivery); it makes me think I should be playing a drinking game.

A chance meeting on a train brought together Lord Ickenham and Bill Oakshott, although being told that the love of his life, Hermione, was engaged to none other than Pongo, Lord Ickenham's nephew, did not make Bill feel like he'd been struck behind the ear. And what with the usual amount of stirring goings-on at Ashendon Manor that include biffings and black eyes and duckings in duck ponds, is there any chance that it will ever work out for poor Bill?

    Overall

On several rainy days as a young girl in the early 60's, I would listen to and read along the entire book in one sitting. I fell in love with Cyril Ritchard at that time after seeing him as Capt. Hook in Peter Pan. To this day (40 years on), when I read Alice in Wonderland, I hear his voice. I was able to find the boxed album set at a high price about 10 years ago; I'm so happy to find it in digital format now. It's going on my Kindle 2 in moments so I can listen while I knit and not have to jump up to change the vinyl record. I strongly recommend this recording.
