The combo of FBI, terrorist "hunters" and mafia makes for a few laughs. But it's a fairly fast paced story with plenty of tension in the chase. Enjoyable listen with this narrator. Would love to hear more from this author in this series.

I didn't listen to this "series" in order, so I listened to the female &male narrators together first. Much better! It made it more real. This was a bit more difficult to follow as the narrator didn't have truly significant changes in character voices. Other than that, I enjoyed another one of DB's lively and at times suspenseful books. Not his best, maybe because of narration, but I enjoyed it. Some of the plot line with the First Lady & President were clearly way out there. You just know it's a bit ridiculous. But- I enjoyed the listen as I am a Baldacci fan. For the true thriller/mystery connoisseur it will seem far fetched.

More than a million listeners have thrilled to Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln, the can't-stop-listening work of nonfiction about the shocking assassination that changed the course of American history. Now the anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts in gripping detail the brutal murder of John Fitzgerald Kennedy—and how a sequence of gunshots on a Dallas afternoon not only killed a beloved president but also sent the nation into the cataclysmic division of the Vietnam War and its culture-changing aftermath.

Bill O. writes an amazing historical book on an amazing period of American history. I am a Factor fan and am used to Bill's voice on his show. It took a little time to adjust to him reading this. But it is so interesting I forgot it was him and got into the story.

FBI agent Nick Bracco can't stop a Kurdish terrorist from firing missiles at random homes across the country. The police can't stand watch over every household, so Bracco recruits his cousin Tommy to help track down this terrorist. Tommy is in the Mafia. Oh yeah, it gets messy fast.

Great new author and book. Story line was good with some bumps. But enjoyable mainly because of the narrator. Great change with characters, personalities. He handled the "mafia/fbi'ers" voices really well.

I struggled with this one as the narrator was challenging to listen to. Deep, almost nasally sound at times. He doesn't change voices well, especially to female characters.
I think I would have enjoyed the story more if the narrator was better.

It's an ok story line. Keeps your interest with the characters, but a challenge to listen to.

The President of the United States can’t decide how to respond to a classified video showing the Taliban’s brutal treatment of their captive - a female helicopter pilot of the Army’s elite Special Operations Aviation Regiment. Afraid that a botched rescue will further destabilize foreign policy and end his presidency, the Commander-in-Chief falters. But when the Special Ops community learns that one of their own is being tortured and will almost certainly be killed, no executive order will stop them from attempting a rescue mission.

This isn't at the par of Clancy or Thor, but it's entertaining. It is more of an "in the field" story with incredible detail and somewhat realistic combat.
If you are bothered by real language, aka- cursing, it's not for you. But it adds to the somewhat real feel of it.

This book, although a work of fiction, is based on a real military operation that was run in the late 1960's in Southeast Asia. I would like to thank Al (whose last name I will not reveal) for the information he shared with me as a Navy Frogman fighting in Vietnam. Al was a “UDT”, Underwater Demolition Team "frogman". This group of specialized operators would later evolve into what we now know as Navy SEALs.

The Team brings an interesting, and amazingly true, concept to the war on terror. A "baseball team" used as a front. Though this is the premise, the actual mission they are sent on does not have anything to do with the team going somewhere to play, it is just what brings them together. It's a good story, not as detailed as some, though the "details" of what the jungle people did is described rather gruesomely. Other than that it was a "light read".
My only real issue was the sound and music used in between the chapters. It was louder than the normal sound level thus irritating when it arrived. I am truly not fond of music and sounds being used in this manner, so keep that in mind if you feel the same way.
The narrator did a good job, it was good to have "real" female voices at times as well. Though it was odd that only one of the 2 main female characters had the female voice. The male narrator was used for the other.

Jack Ryan has only just moved back into the Oval Office when he is faced with a new international threat. An aborted coup in the People's Republic of China has left President Wei Zhen Lin with no choice but to agree with the expansionist policies of General Su Ke Quiang. They have declared the South China Sea a protectorate and are planning an invasion of Taiwan. The Ryan administration is determined to thwart China’s ambitions, but the stakes are dangerously high as a new breed of powerful Chinese anti-ship missiles endanger the US Navy's plans to protect the island.

I was anxiously waiting for this next in the series to come out. It didn't take long to get into the story, It's one of the best in the series. It's interesting how all of the characters that we are familiar with are weaved throughout the story. Many of the previous stories have a strong focus on one or two. This includes eveyrone nicely.
    Great action and details!

Four US Navy SEALS departed one clear night in early July, 2005 for the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border for a reconnaissance mission. Their task was to document the activity of an al Qaeda leader rumored to have a small army in a Taliban stronghold. Five days later, only one of those Navy SEALS made it out alive. This is the story of the only survivor of Operation Redwing, SEAL team leader Marcus Luttrell, and the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history.

This was truly an "experience" for the listener. What a true patriot and amazing man Marcus is. It must have been the challenge of a life time for him to share his story.
One of of the things about this book that hit me hard was my personal thoughts and beliefs on some of the frightening challenges presented to our nation's safety were truly validated and brought out crystal clear in this book. When the liberals, both in government and the media were putting our nations brave and best on "trial for murder" I was sickened. To see how this affected Marcus and his team...I can't find the words to describe how infuriating it is.
Thank you Marcus for your service to our country and for keeping us all safe and free, regardless of those who, without a clue about your reality, tried to put you on trial.

On the snow-covered slopes of Utah, the unthinkable has just become a nightmarish reality: thirty Secret Service agents have been viciously executed and the vacationing president of the United States kidnapped by one of the most lethal terrorist organizations in the Middle East - the Fatah Revolutionary Council. But surviving agent and ex-Navy SEAL Scot Harvath doesn't believe the Fatah Revolutionary Council is responsible for the attack.

I'm a huge fan of Brad Thor and the Scott Harvath series. I've listened to just about all of the series before going back to this first one. Having listened to the others, this one doesn't feel as polished as the others, but that makes sense for the first in the series.

The story is typical for the Harvath series, good details and building up of the characters. It doesn't have the strength of following books but it's still a Thor so it's a great listen!

The story line is a bit far fetched with the details of the President's kidnapping; what was done to him and where he was held. I won't share details to spoil the story! But the rest of the story makes up for it.

Had I followed this in order I would still have continued on to the future books in the series and been happily surprised as they only continued to get better and better.
