Top of the list! First it's Radclyffe at her very best. Second it's book 7 in the P-town tales and each book has gotten better than the one before it. I love learning more about this town and now she has crossed the P-town series with her Justice series and brought in Dillion Mitchell to P-town. How much better can you get than that!
Man that's a hard one, without comparing them to other Radclyffe books, There is a 1960's book called The Group. (Barbara Walter's I think was in the movie version along with Candice Bergmin) and that's not even close. Maybe Stoner MacTavish only in how the writer deals with mystery and people but again that's way off. I am trying to think of a book that has a people driven story with cops, a mystery yet is more about the quirky people and there love life's. No can't do it.
All 7 of them now, She is awesome. Love how she does Tory and Reese's voices. And Parkers and I love all Radclyffe's world From Carter Wayne to Dillion Mitchell and How Nicol make's them all sound different! A+
It was Awesome! Of coarse I had read the book before but listening to it made it come alive. I was on my sit when Ally didn't get to Flynn and Marie in time after she has a bad feeling. You want her to save the day but then...
It's just awesome but first start with Safe Harbor and work up to this book. By the time you get to Dunes you will be crazy with love for Tory Reese and the rest of the town,
Yes Just to get every ones names right in my head, I loved the story and hope she writes a book two, It was well written and well preformed. Do you help your friends or run and help your self, how much magic is too magic to draw attention to yourself? Will this little spell trip the scales and alert the bad guys or will the scale alert the bad guy. Do you use just enough magic to save yourself or will the little extra to save your friend be to much? So many questions and the only answer sometimes is to push forward and find out.
Spoiler Alert********************* When she decides she has reached the crossroads and she just slams her arm into the bad guy and eats his heart to get the knowledge to save every one. I didn't expect that.
jade- I liked all her gamer lingo to deal with how her magic worked. That she was brought up on D and D only doing with really magic. That she used a 20 sided die as her totem, I just thought it was cool. I loved the way
I wish I had that kind of time instead it took me two night, because I fell asleep the first the first night and but finished up the next night,
It is a great story with a lot if imagination and a fun story urban fantasy story,
Spoil Alert***********************That Laura declares loud and proud that she is "Queer" and leaves for New York without Beth, That Laura says to 1950's society, you be damn, I can never marry a man, be with a man, I there for must leave this farce and make my way as best as I can no matter what my family thinks, what society thinks, what lumps society hands ,me I must be true to myself. OK so it was a little Payton Place story and Beth stays for Charlie, but Laura had the gut to know enough to leave.
Laura, she come off as child like at first, but as the story goes along you find out she is the strong one in the story. I liked her best.
Good tone, good inflection, Good dramatic pauses, Just good over all reading of the book. And a pleasant voice.
The old story, He gets her in the end.
I got so tried of lesbian stories written before 1975 that either end with one of the woman in the arms of a man, or with the one of the woman killing themselves or both. It's like you can't have a happy lesbian while one girl does end up in the arms of a guy, the other isn't suicidal in fact you kind of feel hopeful Hopeful for her. And since this is book one in the Bebo Beeker series the novel follow Laura into New York. I kind can't wait to listen to the rest of the series. I read Odd Girl Out and Bebo Beeker years ago back in the 1980's. But I didn't realize they were part of a series. And I read them a bit apart. I thought they were OK but in the mid/early 80 there were a lot of good author to choose from. Not as many as now but I remember reading Rita Mae Brown, Claire McNab, and Sandra Dryer like they were gold. Brown actually wrote books like In Her Day Ruby Fruit Jungle and her best novel Six of One. Which is Awesome. Then she decided to write real novels. Whatever that means. But if you haven't read Six of One find an old copy because it's out of print and enjoy.
I have not had time to read the books, but I want to make time. Shubach tell's a wonderful story. In this 3rd installment the bad guys gives us a hero, for The Whispering (Something) Ellena who is a cool character to fall for. Kate and Carra are still married and fighting strong, Valhalla is still in trouble but the gang is there to keep her safe. It is one wild ride not to be missed for lover of this series.
When Ellena realizes she is in love with the girl who is the enemy that they have taken in. It is a touching moment but done in Shubach style so it is also laughably funny.
I have listened to Parts one and two and four in this series and she does a wonderful job narrating them. She brings Carra and Kate's voice to live, Even Ellena comes to live in the narration. And the story is fresh and funny because of it.
It made laugh really hard, and smile a lot, just the way the story is told with tongue and cheek kind of voice over, And the words, yet it's a wonderful young adult romance story.
I love Shubach's writing, I love all his series from the Valkyrie, to Music of the Soul, to Drakkon, to Troll, All of them are full of laughs and imagination. In Music series some of the main characters have been deaf, or had a missing leg, which to a handicapped person like myself is wonderful. It's nice that not everyone in romance stories is Blond blue eyed perfect or brown haired hard bodied goddess, Not all of us fit that type, some of get around on walkers, have MS and do not want pity, Which is nice to see some write about romance about people who are not all perfect. Which is why I enjoy his/her writing so much. And the voicing is perfect. And I love a good sci-fi / fantasy tell. So the Valkyrie series has been perfect for this lesbian. .
Its up there with Radcylffe, Gerri Hill and Erik Schabach who write the best lesbian romance writers. To me Quinn's spinning of a great mystery in with a romance novel takes a lot of talent, Radcyliffe tells an action packed sort of mystery tell with her Honor series and a mystery/romance series with her Justice series, and she also mixes in a little mystery in some of her p-town series, which is what makes them great. Hill tells a great mystery/romance story with her Hunter series, Also her Devil's Rock and Keeper series. All are action packed but the romance is first with Hill. Erik tells a great action young adult lesbian sci-fi/ fantasy story with his Valkyrie series, I also really like his Drakkon series, And what I hope turns into a series with his Bridge Trolls story. All are wonderful. Still I think the best think he writes is his music of the soul series. Which is simple good with no mystery like in Quinn's story. Which is well written story.
Sarah, was my favorite, I liked they way she tried to be professional, yet knew she was falling for Hunter. I really liked the scene where they simply held hands in the club and left the club that way. It was a great scene.
A good reading, straight forward story telling, good inflection, good dramatic pauses, good changing of voice for character. Generally excellent a good story teller.
Serial killer after the one woman who got away, a love afraid between ex-FBI agent and tormented woman. (I have no idea how to sum this up for Hollywood but it would make a great film)
It's an excellent story, great drama, great mystery, Great romance, Great characters. Just really great writing. Want to read other books by this author, Have Show of Force (May have name wrong) But it was also Awesome!
Have not read the book, not sure I would make it through with all the hot romance. It was better in audio, It is better than her 13 hours which is saying something because 13 hours was Awesome.
Can't remember names, but I liked both woman, both were hot and fun to listen to, both has issues to over come to keep them interesting, both when the got together lit off fireworks.
Hot voice, great inflection, good pauses, an excellent reading, She just was awesome.
I would want to take them out to breakfast together with that just got screwed look on both there faces, And watch them try not to look at each other when all they would want to do is go back and do it again.
Great story, more than a sex story, you got inside the character heads. She made them into real people.
Maybe, If I was in the mood to listen to a total sex story. It was married woman has lesbian fantasy. Agency hooks her up with the perfect girl, They have hot sex, And it was hot. So Maybe it I am in the mood. ,
Ellen, I like the process she went through with getting her life together.
Ellen for the same reason. She was hot.Morgan performed her well.
The hot sex part between Ellen and her tatoo'ed Lover.
If you want to listen to hot lesbian sex this is it.
Yes, I just had a fight with my fight with my favorite lesbian romance writer over the fact there were never anything but perfect people in her novels, I asked her if she could include a best friend or side character who had maybe a wheelchair or a walker or was just somehow handicapped a little but was happy, health and cool. Not needing pity. She said basic "NO"her reasons were really lame. And it kind of hurt my feeling being handicapped myself. You get sick of reading about perfect people all the time. But here Erik has the lead character dealing with the lose of one leg like its no big deal, and she doesn't want pity from anyone which is what she gets from the girl who falls head over feet in love with her. No pity at all. Its a super great love story between two young women, one who has scares on the outside and inside that she has to let go off to allow herself to fall in love. Then you have the other girl with a few issues of her own, that may keep her from falling in love too. But their love is just too strong.
I can't think of anything right off hand, Snow Fall by Gerri Hill for some of the interaction between the two woman. but its nothing like it. Deafening Whisper by Erik, in Music of Soul series. In fact all the books in the Music of the Soul series have some elements in common.
Her voice is just perfect for the voice of Skylar, and the other girl, her inflection, accents and timing and pauses were perfect, she brought the story to life, I plan to listen to it several more times.
Skylar or her girlfriend or both of them together, I think both of them together. I would love to met the lovers.
This is an awesome book with so much going on, I wish there was a sequel to the story, I want to find out how they are doing after there career get started, I would like to hear about there relationship 5 years down the way once Skylar is writing songs and recording them and Her love is on the road.
I liked that it was about two women, What I liked least is you almost never get around to the reason why the main character so nobly gives up her wife and kids before getting beaten into loosing her memories and becomes a blank slate. And from then on it sucky over the top bad drama that is just bad.
I am not sure, if they are all this bad than NO
Yes she spoke the word written very well I just sorry what was written was so bad.
Stay in bed an moan and bitch about how bad it was.
Pass on this story unless you enjoy bad drama.
It was a good story though very violent in parts, but very dis jointed. I also didn't like the way it seemed to except that women get raped or abused by men as a norm, But over all it was a good book with strong characters.
I would say a strong defective story with a good personal interest story with it, say Hound of the Baskerville and Gone with Wind combined into one boos
I can pronounce his name but the reporter that was the main charterer,
At the end when he is trying to say he is her friend. And make her understand what a friend is,
The book was good but only got 4 stars from me because the story was disjointed and it drove me crazy.
Yes, it's a charming love story that deals a lot in trust issues.
Since I am handicapped you would think I would relate more with the blind girl but it's the report that I liked best, she had such a hard time expressing her true emotions or understanding them until it was pointed out to her.
Nope, but she is AWESOME
I just loved it.
Really good book needs to be heard.
