Under the care of Belle, the master's illegitimate daughter, Lavinia becomes deeply bonded to her adopted family, though she is set apart from them by her white skin. Eventually, Lavinia is accepted into the world of the big house, where the master is absent and the mistress battles opium addiction.

Very interesting. Made you want to keep listening although it is definitely a sad and touching novel. Not a good choice if you are looking for something light-hearted. Excellent narration.

Growing up with telepathic abilities, Sookie Stackhouse realized early on there were things she'd rather not know. And now that she's an adult, she also realizes that some things that she knows about, she'd rather not see—like Eric Northman feeding off another woman. A younger one. There's a thing or two she'd like to say about that, but she has to keep quiet—Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), is in town.

This is a great listen if you have heard or read the previous books in the series. I think, however, you might get a little lost if you listen as a stand alone story. The narrator is really good at making the characters come to life. I can't wait for #13 and hope she keeps writing!

Louisa Brannigan is a no-nonsense, hardworking press secretary, fighting her way to the top of Capitol Hill, with no help from her annoying neighbor, Pete Streeter. He receives phone calls all night long, he steals her morning paper, he thinks jeans are formal wear, and worst of all he's involved Louisa in the disappearance of a pig.

    "Silly but Fun"
    Overall

Definitely not going to win any awards, but it was well narrated and amusing for a silly romance. It did take a humorous approach to this genre. I don't usually read or listen to romance and only tried this one because of a free coupon. I probably would not buy this on my own without a freebie.

Around the time Elizabeth Gilbert turned 30, she went through an early-onslaught midlife crisis. She went through a divorce, a crushing depression, another failed love, and the eradication of everything she ever thought she was supposed to be. To recover from all this, Gilbert took a radical step. She got rid of her belongings, quit her job, and undertook a yearlong journey around the world, all alone. This is the absorbing chronicle of that year.

This book was a very interesting look at someone else's very personal spiritual and literal journey in life. The author herself narrates and I believe the book was better for it. Definitely worth the time of someone who is considering their own relationship to the universe. People of all beliefs could find parts of this book that could provide them with insight.

She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority.

Quick moving and interesting. Kept you wanting to hear how things resolve. I was really glad that I had already downloaded this book when I finished book two in the series. I started right away.
