  • God Is Not Great: The Case Against Religion

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 49 mins)

    Story

With robust clarity, Hitchens frames the argument for a more secular life based on science and reason, in which Hell is replaced by the Hubble Telescope's awesome view of the universe, and Moses and the burning bush give way to the beauty and symmetry of the double helix. God Is Not Great marvels at the possibility of society without religion.

Where does God Is Not Great rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

These ideas have been loose in many essays I have read, is always very good to see them in one context. The information display is complete and great. I will rank this book at number 6 in my list

What other book might you compare God Is Not Great to and why?

The God Delusion of Dawkins, a better book in my opinion, but this one has information that in the other one is lacking and is written by a great Journalist.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The voice slurs for my listening coomprehension and makes it difficult at times, but is a chalange to listen diferent accents all toghether is very good.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes all the information about the Islam and the bad propaganda we get from the media. We all should give us a chance to be well inform and have a better understanding of the problem.

    Any additional comments?

I have just recently discover Mr. Hitchens and fell very sorry for his death, I'll tray to read everything possible of his books he is one of the most intelligent human beings I have known in my life,

In the book that he was born to write, provocateur and best-selling author Christopher Hitchens inspires future generations of radicals, gadflies, mavericks, rebels, angry young (wo)men, and dissidents. Who better to speak to that person who finds him or herself in a contrarian position than Hitchens, who has made a career of disagreeing in profound and entertaining ways.

If you could sum up Letters to a Young Contrarian in three words, what would they be?

This is the most stoning book I've read lately, it is curious how somebody like Hitchens was out of mi sight. I'll buy and give away this book to many young contrarians I know

Who was the greater economist--Adam Smith or Charles Darwin? The question seems absurd. Darwin, after all, was a naturalist, not an economist. But Robert Frank, New York Times economics columnist and best-selling author of The Economic Naturalist, predicts that within the next century Darwin will unseat Smith as the intellectual founder of economics.

Mark says: "Ivory tower theorys that lack depth"

Would you consider the audio edition of The Darwin Economy to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print, but I can imagine that is as good as the audible.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Darwin Economy?

It was shocking for me his proposition of the way of taxing, I will love go hear his opponents

Have you listened to any of Walter Dixon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh many times discovering how well he could apply natural selection to economics
