To those who matter in 1950s Hollywood, Lena Scott is the hottest rising star to hit the silver screen since Marilyn Monroe. Few know her real name is Abra. Even fewer know the price she' s paid to finally feel like she' s somebody. To Pastor Ezekiel Freeman, Abra will always be the little girl who stole his heart the night he found her, a wailing newborn abandoned under a bridge on the outskirts of Haven.

I enjoyed the book but wasn't necessarily elated. Narrator is awesome. Storyline could've been a little better especially the ending.

In the compelling conclusion to the New York Times best-seller Her Mother’s Hope, Christy Award-winning author Francine Rivers explores the sorrow that can tear families apart and the grace that can heal the deepest wounds. Just as Carolyn had formed a stronger bond with her Oma Marta than with her mother, so Carolyn’s daughter is drawn to her grandma more than to a mom who’s caught up in the 1960s counterculture....

I think I preferred the first book more but this one was still good. I realize that the point was to cover several generations but the storyline was slightly less interesting as it neared modern times. The historical fiction was awesome and the book is very well written and narrated.

Five-time Christy Award winner Lynn Austin is acclaimed as “one of the genre’s best historical fiction novelists” (Library Journal). Set in Brooklyn, New York, during World War II, While We’re Far Apart is a brilliant blend of captivating characters, heart-tugging emotions, and vivid spiritual truths. While a motherless girl longs for her daddy and a young lady hopes for a second chance at love, this poignant tale explores the uncertainty that stalks the homefront as the “War to End All Wars” rages in Europe.

Great story, great narrator. This was different than what I expected based on the description. I knew it would be wonderful because it's a Lynn Austin but the story line was surprising even better than expected.

After all his hard work in preserving the faith and protecting the faithful, the thought that one of his pagan-worshiping nephews will become ruler is upsetting. Reminded me of an adult version of the bible CDs I had as a kid. Would be great as an animated movie. Not my favorite but I'm still a BIG Lynn Austin fan. Narrator was quite skilled as well.

The story was "ok" but certainly not the best Lisa Samson novel. However, the worse part was either the recording or the narrator. Her accent was great but it sounded like she had lots of saliva in her mouth for the entire recording. She was either smacking her lips/tongue or something else weird. It was very difficult to listen to. Perhaps it could just be the quality of the recording.
