I'm a big Michael Connely fan, and I found this book listenable, but a bit of a disappointment. I hated the narrator, he has a problem with his fricatives and it is very distracting. Plus he makes it all so ridiculously intense. I could have done with a bot more character development and a lot less emoting. I expected more from Harry Bosch :(
This book was fascinatingly bad, I hated the main character, the story was ridiculous and the violence was out of control. On the other hand I did listen till the end just to see where this train wreck of a book was going.
I am not the most critical reviewer and I will listen to almost anything, including books that my teenager downloads. Anyway, I had high hopes for this book, especially with all the hype about the movie. Anyway, I found the book to be a total yawn. The events of one day took half the book and by the end of that day, I didn't care about any of the characters. I almost ditched the book several times, but stuck with it. Still it is not my favorite book. I found it totally boring.
I enjoyed listening to this book. It was suspenseful and the main character was sympathetic. I was definitely looking for Stephen King escapism, which is exactly what I got.
The narrator was enjoyable to listen to.
This book was a disappointment to me. I found the narrator's voice annoying and whiny. I also did not find the story that compelling. I thought about abandoning the book several times, but managed to slog through to the end. I felt that the beginning, middle and end of the book had really nothing to do with each other and would not download a book by the same author or with the same narrator.
