There's a nasty flu going round. An epidemic, they call it. The posters say to cover your mouth when you sneeze, and throw away the tissue. But such simple measures won't stop this flu. Because when you catch the flu, armed police come and lock you in your house to die alone. When you catch this flu, it kills you in days. And when you catch this flu, two hours after it's killed you, your eyelids snap open again....

Such a slow story line. Lots of standing around and talking but no action in this book...

The outbreak tore the US in two. The East remains a safe haven. The West has become a ravaged wilderness, known by survivors as the Evacuated States. It is here that Henry Marco makes his living. Hired by grieving relatives, he tracks down the dead and delivers peace. Now Homeland Security wants Marco for a mission unlike any other: He must return to California, where the apocalypse began. Where a secret is hidden. And where his own tragic past waits to punish him again.

One of the better storylines. Great narration. Very easy to listen to and get sucked into for hours.

The global outbreak of a new strain of virus wiped out over 99% of the population. The lone hope rests on the slim, unready shoulders of Dr. Justin Kaes and a small team of specialists from the Center for Disease Control. The researchers have discovered a cure for the plague in the blood of a cantankerous 102 year old. But there's one minor problem: the old man couldn't care less whether humanity lives or dies. And he most certainly doesn't feel like going on a road trip to sunny California.

Great Narration and Storyline. So glad I finally found a book that begins and ends in one listening unlike most of these types of books that the author has to beat to death in prequels and sequels..

America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse in the near future. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city.

    Story

This audiobook starts out ok and has a good base storyline but there is so much wasted time that you become bored hearing about the specific makes and models of every single item that they purchased and used prepping for the end of the world as we know... I listened to Mr. Rawles "How To Survive The End Of the World As We Know It" and was impressed when he did supply us with this information but that was a guide to prepardness not a fictitous novel. This book is way too long for what it is and could have been shortened in length. I will give his "Survivors" a try eventually but I am glad I used my monthly credit for "Patriots" because it really isn't worth the $26++ price.

One woman's story as she blogs about - and fights back against - the zombie apocalypse.

Allison Hewitt and her five colleagues at the Brooks and Peabody Bookstore are trapped together when the zombie outbreak hits. Allison reaches out for help through her blog, writing on her laptop. It may also be her only chance to reach her mother. But as the reality of their situation sinks in, Allison's blog becomes a harrowing account of her edge-of-the-seat adventures.

This audiobook starts out interesting but does not give you any great thrills.
It is very slow going. The overall story gets summed up in the last 3 minutes of the book.
    Disappointing...

Within seconds, normally rational, self-controlled people become frenzied killers. Christened "Haters" by the media, the attackers strike without warning, killing all who cross their path. People are afraid to go to work, afraid to leave their homes, afraid that at any moment their friends or family could turn on them. In the face of this mindless terror, Danny McCoyne must secure his family, seek shelter, and watch as the world falls apart. "Attack first, ask questions later" becomes the order of the day.

I listen to a lot of audiobooks and must say this is by far the all time worst yet.
The story develops so slowly. I was thinking the pace would pick up when the story got interesting.
It never did pick up the pace or get interesting.
There is this long build up to nothing. It is like the author had to finish the story for a deadline because it just ends telling you little to nothing.
There are a lot of other audiobooks out there to pick that are real thrillers. This book literally put me to sleep at times.
