The work tells the story of Jane's early life, her experience at Lowood School and as a governess. Her refusal to accept Rochester's love on any but her own strictly moral terms is a passionate cry for independence.

Jane says: "Superb narration of a great romantic classic"
    "Absolutely fantastic narrator!"

As a prosecutor in Houston, Penn Cage sent killers to death row. But as mayor of his hometown - Natchez, Mississippi - Penn will face his most dangerous threat. Urged by old friends to try to restore this fading jewel of the Old South, Penn has ridden into office on a tide of support for change. But in its quest for new jobs and fresh money, Natchez has turned to casino gambling, and now five steamboats float on the river beside the old slave market, like props from Gone With the Wind.

Corinne says: "Not his best but Iles can't be bad"
    "Stay away from this narrator!!!"
    Overall

I tried to listen to this book five times, but never was able to get more than 10 minutes into the book before I had to stop. I find the narrator's over-blown and contrived inflections and dramatization unlistenable. I wish I could get my money back!
