    • By Louis L'Amour

    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

A magnificent saga of American fiction, the Sacketts series is one of the greatest treasures by legendary storyteller Louis L'Amour. In The Daybreakers, L'Amour spins the tale of two brothers who couldn't be more different - yet remain bound by their restlessness of spirit.

Bruce E. Hawkins says: "Very enjoyable story"
    "Very enjoyable story"

I really enjoyed this story and the growth of two brothers from the backwoods who each created a new life for themselves. Didn't want to stop listening. Louie La'Amour is awesome.

    "A surprisingly good book"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I listened to the free 5-chapter preview, probably no intending to buy the book. So glad I did, as this was a well written, creative, really interesting book.

What did you like best about this story?

Well read, interesting characters and interesting story.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The final chapter, the showdown with SteelHeart.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Any additional comments?

I hope there's more in the future.

  • Monster Hunter Legion: Monster Hunter, Book 4

    • By Larry Correia
    • Narrated By Oliver Wyman
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When hunters from around the world gather in Las Vegas for a conference, a creature left over from a World War Two weapons experiment wakes up and goes on a rampage across the desert. Only there is far more to this particular case than meets the eye, and as Hunters fall prey to their worst nightmares, Owen Zastava Pitt and the staff of Monster Hunter International have to stop an ancient god from turning Sin City into a literal hell on earth.

    Sandi says: "What A Shock..."
    "Not so much"
What disappointed you about Monster Hunter Legion?

To many situations, too many characters, story was way out there....crazy weird.

Would you ever listen to anything by Larry Correia again?

Depends on story, probably not another Monster Hunter story.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Oliver Wyman?

What character would you cut from Monster Hunter Legion?

    Gee, let me choose. Several.

    Any additional comments?

Really couldn't get into it that much, like someone was on drugs when they wrote this.

  • Fifty Shades of Grey: Book One of the Fifty Shades Trilogy

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By E. L. James
    • Narrated By Becca Battoe
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Amazon Customer says: "Holy Crap minus the Holy"
    "I must be missing something"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Better narrator, more plausible characters, better storyline.

Would you ever listen to anything by E. L. James again?

I would consider it, if it was compelling.

How could the performance have been better?

Less of Annastasia's thoughts like "OMG", felt she acted like a teenager while involved in very adult situations.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Boredom, disappointment, uninteresting characters.

    Any additional comments?

I invested several hours of listening in this book before giving up entirely.

  • The Informationist: A Vanessa Michael Munroe Novel, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Taylor Stevens
    • Narrated By Hillary Huber
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Vanessa “Michael” Munroe deals in information - expensive information - working for corporations, heads of state, private clients, and anyone else who can pay for her unique brand of expertise. Born to missionary parents in lawless central Africa, Munroe took up with an infamous gunrunner and his mercenary crew when she was just fourteen. As his protégé, she earned the respect of the jungle's most dangerous men, cultivating her own reputation for years until something sent her running. After almost a decade building a new life and lucrative career from her home base in Dallas, she's never looked back. Until now....

John C. says: "Strong premise & character descend into melodrama"
"She's interesting, but she's no Lizabeth Salendar"

I enjoyed this book for the most part, but expectations of Michael Munroe being another Lizbeth Salander fall short. Looking forward, however, to Taylor Stevens next book in the Informationist series.

    • By Michael Koryta
    • Narrated By Robert Petkoff
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

So when Arlen awakens on a train one hot Florida night and sees death's telltale sign in the eyes of his fellow passengers, he tries to warn them. Only 19-year-old Paul Brickhill believes him, and the two abandon the train, hoping to escape certain death. Michele says: "Great book read by a great narrator!"
    "Well written, suspenseful"

This is one of my favorite audible books to date. The narrator did a nice job with the plot and characters. Kept my interest though out and kept me guessing.Highly recommended.

  • Eclipse: The Twilight Saga, Book 3

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 26 mins)
    • By Stephenie Meyer
    • Narrated By Ilyana Kadushin
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob - knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

    P says: "Meh..."
    "Pretty Good..."

Although by the end of three books, I am getting a bit weary of hearing Bell's inner thoughts on everything...I still enjoyed the book. Not as good as the first, better than New Moon. Moving on to number 4.

  • The Ruins

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Scott Smith
    • Narrated By Patrick Wilson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The Ruins follows two American couples enjoying a pleasant, lazy beach holiday together in Mexico. On an impulse, they go off with newfound friends in search of one of their group, the young German who, in pursuit of a girl, has headed for the remote Mayan ruins, site of a fabled archeological dig.

    Art says: "The Plant"
"Can't Believe I Listened to the Whole Thing"

If I would not have spent numerous hours traveling by air this week, I would have given up on the book. Never really got a good feel for the characters, lots of questions to be answered and I hated the ending. I too, acquired this audio book prior to any reviews.
