Would you consider the audio edition of The Knife of Never Letting Go to be better than the print version?

Not having read the print version couldn't really say. Though I did enjoy the narrator and think I personally would've been confused reading everyones thoughts instead of hearing them through the narrator.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Made me buy the second book immediately, even though I wasn't necessarily spell bound throughout the book, the cliff hanger killed me.

What about Nick Podehl’s performance did you like?

Had a variety of voices, and didn't try to force a performance.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Almost made me cry near the end when well don't want to say any spoilers...

    Any additional comments?

I listened to the free preview, and decided to purchase the first book. I honestly wish I hadn't listened to the preview the books are not similar imo. Though to be fair the preview is only what half hour, fourty five minutes long or something like that. I did somewhat enjoy the book and will listen to the series to see what happens.

This is the first time I've listened to a full cast audio play. Truly did not enjoy it. Sure different voices, but the sound effects? Detracted from the story in my opinion. I could possibly overlook opening doors, knocking that kind of thing. But listening to people wrestle and grunt, no thanks. Also the elevator musical interludes, completely unecesary. I get that at a real play you need time to tear down/set up. But here it was just awkward long pauses, with classical music that did nothing to enhance the story.

One question, a split-second decision, and Brian Darby lies dead on the kitchen floor. His wife, state police trooper Tessa Leoni, claims to have shot him in self-defense, and bears the bruises to back up her tale. For veteran detective D. D. Warren it should be an open-and-shut case. But where is their six-year-old daughter? As the homicide investigation ratchets into a frantic statewide search for a missing child, D. D. Warren must partner with former lover Bobby Dodge to break through the blue wall of police brotherhood, seeking to understand the inner workings of a trooper’s mind while also unearthing family secrets.

It was a case guaranteed to spark a media feeding frenzy: a young mother, blond and pretty, disappears without a trace from her South Boston home, leaving behind her four-year-old daughter as the only witness and her handsome, secretive husband as the prime suspect. But from the moment Detective Sergeant D. D. Warren arrives at the Joneses - a snug little bungalow, she senses something off about the picture of wholesome normality the couple worked so hard to create.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

If you could sum up Die Trying in three words, what would they be?

    Chick, hicks and action.

What other book might you compare Die Trying to and why?

Pretty much any action book, I enjoy the Reacher series don't get me wrong but at the end of the day it is what it is.

Did Jonathan McClain do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

The performer wasn't terrible but I really preferred the narrator from the first book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Wanted to? Not really, could I? Possibly.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to everyone. I believe in Ayn Rand's overall philosophy. It is scary how much our current society is turning into punish the producer and give to the need.

Who was your favorite character and why?

John Galt, doesn't change he is who he is unapologetically.

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not, but I'd be willing to listen to another book he reads.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not possible haha 63 hours is a marathon not a sprint. I think you would miss some of the important meanings and statements knocking this book out in one sitting.

    Any additional comments?

I am ready to join the John Galt revolution! I produce for greed, for profit. I will not give to you based on need.
