Maisy and the Missing Mice was a fun mystery for the younger set. I have to say, I enjoyed it as well. The story was well written and it was fun to guess 'whodunit'. I thought the narrator did a nice job.
Almost Perfect by Diane Daniels Manning is a story that reaches right in to your heart and settles there. Bess is in her 70s and has spent a lifetime showing and breeding championship dogs. She has finally decided to sell everything and retire when her champion stud is stolen. Benny, a neighbor boy, who happens to be mildly autistic, has fallen hard for McCreery, and is very upset when he finds out the dog has been taken.
Bess and Benny form an alliance that at first seems like it won’t work, but it turns out to be an amazing partnership. They both see something in each other that other people don’t see. Working together, they decide to work toward the Westminster Dog Show.
I was interested by this story. I easily became invested in Bess, Benny and McCreery right away and wanted to know where the story would take them. Bess and Benny’s friendship was endearing. It was interesting to learn about the Westminster Dog Show (which takes place February 16-17 this year). It is something that I hadn’t known much about before listening to this book. I liked that both Bess and Benny were flawed in their own ways but didn’t let it limit them from doing what they wanted to do.
The audiobook narration was fair. There were times when I wasn’t totally sure who was speaking. Overall, the narrator did a decent job with telling the story. There were a lot of characters and at times the story felt like it was going back and forth between a few different story lines. I had to re-listen to a few parts to make sure I knew what was going on. The book did hold my attention and it was one that I wanted to see through to the end.
I received a copy of the audiobook for review purposes. This did not influence my opinion.
Okay…I’ve already read The Publicist Books One and Two (Shelf Life) and love, love, loved them. I totally jumped at the chance to review the audiobook version of The Publicist Book One by Christina George (which I received in exchange for a review). First, because I already loved the story. Second, I listened to the sample on Audible and loved the sound of the narrator. I was not disappointed. The narrator did a fantastic job of bringing Kate and all the other wonderful characters to life for me. Many of them sounded just like I pictured them! This was for sure a 5/5 story for me in ebook form, and I’d give the audiobook version even more stars if I could. Lisa knocked it out of the park, and I can’t wait to hear her read the next book in the series.
I think by now you know that I am a huge fan of Lars Guignard. I absolutely love the Zoe & Zak series, both reading the story and listening to the audiobooks. My older daughter and I both love Zoe & Zak’s adventurous spirits. We know when picking up a Zoe & Zak story that we’re going on a grand adventure and we’re going to enjoy every minute of it. Zoe & Zak and the Tiger Temple by Lars Guignard has been our favorite story so far. It was really exciting to listen to. We both enjoy the narrator. Lars has a writing style that makes the story feel genuine. If you love brave little heroes and fun adventures, this series is one you need to read or listen to (or both!).
Blown Circuit by Lars Guignard is the second book in his thrilling Circuit Series. I thoroughly enjoyed the first, Lethal Circuit, and couldn't wait to continue Michael's story in Blown Circuit. Lars Guignard has written another fantastic spy thriller. The action and adventure never stop! Michael is an enjoyable character and I am glad his story is a series. Blown Circuit has a different narrator than the first book in the series. I think that Russell did a great job narrating the story. It felt smooth to listen to and he easily transported me into Michael's world.
Blown Circuit by Lars Guignard is a well-written thriller. The narrator tells the story perfectly. Well worth the read, and definitely the listen. :)
I received a complimentary audiobook from the author for review purposes. This did not influence my review in any way.
Zoe & Zak and the Yogi's Curse by Lars Guignard is one of my favorite middle grade books. I have an eleven year old daughter, and she has enjoyed Zoe & Zak's adventures as much as I have. I've read the ebook in addition to listening to the audiobook. The narrator does a great job of telling their story. I think she reads with enthusiasm and really makes the characters and the story come alive. Even though I'd already read the ebook, it was still awesome to get to listen to the audiobook. I felt just as excited hearing the story read to me as I did the first time I read it. If you (and your kiddos) enjoy action, adventure and mystery, this is a wonderful series to pick up.
I received a code for this audiobook for free in exchange for my honest review.
Wow, what a rush! Lethal Circuit by Lars Guignard is an intense ride that never stops. The mystery and the thrill of the story kept me on the edge of my seat. Since I was listening to the story, rather than actually holding a book or my Kindle, my hands were anxious to be busy. :) I was urging the narrator to read faster, to get me to the next part! I enjoyed the story…there was a lot going on and I just wanted things to work out for Michael. It felt like I was watching a TV show~there was so much action and excitement! For lovers of mysteries, thrillers, and spy stories, you shouldn’t miss Lethal Circuit by Lars Guignard!
I received this from the author in exchange for my honest review. This was a really fun audio book to listen to! The story was full of magic, fantasy and adventure. I think that the narrator did an excellent job with the voices, especially doing children’s voices. Lars has a gift for writing. It was neat because I was able to imagine my 11 year-old daughter Keira in the place of Zoe. Some of the things she said as well as some of her mannerisms were similar. Lars has written a special story here that can be enjoyed by children of all ages. I definitely recommend the audio book version, especially for listening together in the car with your kiddos.
Witty, fun, entertaining.
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, not really knowing who the 'bad' guys were!
