Mindy Kaling has lived many lives: the obedient child of immigrant professionals, a timid chubster afraid of her own bike, a Ben Affleck–impersonating Off-Broadway performer and playwright, and, finally, a comedy writer and actress prone to starting fights with her friends and coworkers with the sentence “Can I just say one last thing about this, and then I swear I’ll shut up about it?”

Would you consider the audio edition of Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) to be better than the print version?

I love it when interesting, funny, & fabulous people write a great book . . . and then narrate it! Getting Mindy's narration and inflection in my head for 4 and a half hours was just that much better than reading the book.

What other book might you compare Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) to and why?

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? reminded me of Bossy Pants by Tina Fey. These are both funny memoirs by women I love to watch and read about.

Reckless desire sends Charlotte Daicheston into the garden with a dashing masked stranger. He's powerful and unforgettable, a devastatingly handsome footman who lures her - not against her will - into a grand indiscretion at a masquerade ball. Then he vanishes. Several years later, after Charlotte has made her dazzling debut in London society, they meet again. But the rogue is no footman. He's rich, titled, and he doesn't remember Charlotte. Worse, he's the subject of some scandalous gossip.

There are certain formulas and tropes to a romance novel and this book embraces them and executes them remarkably well. Furthermore, the author & narrator make the occasionally frustrating formulas fun & enjoyable.

Where does Red Seas Under Red Skies rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I liked this audiobook, but book 1 in the series was undeniably stronger. Book 1 was stronger because it was easier to keep track of the various characters and their motivations. I felt that this book, book 2, was harder to follow.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I felt that this book, book 2, was harder to follow because it was more difficult to keep all the characters and their motivations straight.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I think I enjoyed the scenes on the pirate ships the most. The pirates were a strong part of this book.

What would have made Magic Lost, Trouble Found better?

This audiobook would have been better with a different narrator. I hope Audible commissions a different recording in the future.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I had such a hard time staying interested in the story because of the monotonous unsuitable narration.

    Any additional comments?

I never read the book in print but heard I would probably like it. As it was, I got about 3/4 of the way through the audiobook before abandoning it because the narration is so unsuited.
