  • The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Bill Bryson
    • Narrated By Bill Bryson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Bill Bryson was born in the middle of the American century, 1951, in the middle of the United States, Des Moines, Iowa, in the middle of the largest generation in American history, the baby boomers. As one of the best and funniest writers alive, his is perfectly positioned to mine his memories of a totally all-American childhood for 24-carat memoir gold. Like millions of his generational peers, Bill Bryson grew up with a rich fantasy life as a superhero.

David says: "Fun, but not for squeamish"

I wish Bill Bryson had a thousand books I could read. I've read every single one so far and always come away with new and interesting facts through his uniquely funny stories. I am also a big fan of him reading his own material. Only Bryson can convey the unique viewpoints the way they way intended to write them. Buying this book is a no brainer. Get it. You'll love it. If you don't, you've lost your sense of humour about life and need therapy.

  • Salinger

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 33 mins)
    • By David Shields, Shane Salerno
    • Narrated By Peter Friedman, January LaVoy, Robert Petkoff, and others
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Shields and Salerno illuminate most brightly the last 56 years of Salinger’s life: a period that, until now, had remained completely dark to biographers. Provided unprecedented access to diaries, letters, legal records, and secret documents, listeners will feel they have, for the first time, gotten beyond Salinger’s meticulously built-up wall. The result is the definitive portrait of one of the most fascinating figures of the 20th century.

Richard Seeley says: "Good biographical details marred by over analysis"
    "This book is horrible"
Would you try another book from David Shields and Shane Salerno and/or the narrators?

The writing is strange, it wanders and Salinger's story is told from many other person's who knew him points of view. It is terribly written and my wife and I turned it off in the car after only 1 hour of listening. I just want a credit back on this one.

  • Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 9 mins)
    • By Christopher McDougall
    • Narrated By Fred Sanders
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why we think it’s a great listen: Want to join the “superhumans”? Luckily you don’t have to run to catch up with them, thanks to McDougall’s and Sanders’ inspiring (and motivating) journey through history, science, physiology, health, entertaining characters and unlikely friendships. Full of incredible characters, amazing athletic achievements, cutting-edge science, and, most of all, pure inspiration, Born to Run is an epic adventure.

Corey says: "Amazing read - even for non-runners"
    "Fantastic Book"

I am not even a runner and thoroughly enjoyed this book. The research that this author did with the tribe from Mexico was exemplary. Fascinating information on how the running shoe industry has pulled the wool over consumers worldwide by promoting running shoes that actually cause more injuries than they prevent. Get this book, you'll love it.

  • In Fifty Years We'll All Be Chicks...: And Other Complaints from an Angry Middle-Aged White Guy

    • ABRIDGED (6 hrs and 42 mins)
    • By Adam Carolla
    • Narrated By Adam Carolla

It's a sad and eerie harbinger of our times that the Oprah-watching, crystal-rubbing, Whole Foods-shopping moms and their whipped attorney husbands have taken the ability to reason away from the poor schlub who makes the Bloody Marys. What we used to settle with common sense or a fist, we now settle with hand sanitizer and lawyers. Adam Carolla has had enough of this insanity and he's here to help us get our collective balls back.

    Brett says: "Hilarious Book"
    "Hilarious Book"

This book is awesome. The fact the "Ace" (Adam Carolla) reads it himself makes it even better. I laughed so many times while listening to this book that I had to stop it just to catch my breath on a few ocassions. Kudos to Adam for writing this and pointing out the little things in life that are both irritating and funny. If you like witty and ocassionally offensive sarcasm, you would be a fool not to buy this book. Thanks for reading this Adam. No other reader could have made it as good as you did.
