Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain old "human error" are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?"

If you could sum up The Martian in three words, what would they be?

More like a high three star. Very well written and kept me listening. I enjoyed the lead characters humor. At times I laughed out loud. I'm an engineer so I liked the high tech. Certainly worth the credit.

A real mind bender. King just has a way of blending reality with his twisted mind. Awsome!

They were just kids when they stumbled upon the horror of their hometown. Now, as adults, none of them can withstand the force that has drawn them all back to Derry, Maine, to face the nightmare without end, and the evil without a name.

    Overall

Classic Stephen King. This book was a good read and a great listen. Brings back memories of being a kid in a clubhouse (without all of the wierd SK stuff). Steven Weber did an outstanding job of narrating. If you like SK, you'll love this. Now... release "The Stand" or an army of SK fans will march on the capitol of Maine!

The gigantic comet had slammed into Earth, forging earthquakes a thousand times too powerful to measure on the Richter scale, tidal waves thousands of feet high. Cities were turned into oceans; oceans turned into steam. It was the beginning of a new Ice Age and the end of civilization. But for the terrified men and women chance had saved, it was also the dawn of a new struggle for survival--a struggle more dangerous and challenging than any they had ever known....

I never lost interest in the book. Some thought that the book started slow but I didn't. It kept me interested from start to finish. The start of the book was informative and set the stage for a very exiting finish.

Scott really know how to write. Can't wait to hear Contagous. He should rely on a 3rd party for the narration. Still... I couldn't stop listening. Great! Keep them coming!

Devilishly clever, Next blends fact and fiction into a breathless tale of a new world where nothing is what it seems, and a set of new possibilities can open at every turn. Next challenges our sense of reality and notions of morality. Balancing the comic and bizarre with the genuinely frightening and disturbing, Next shatters our assumptions and reveals shocking new choices where we least expect.

Ronald says: "interesting topic - dull, boring, confusing book"
    "Good... but not his best"
    Overall

I've read all of MC's books and he continues to amaze me with his intelligence. He usually puts together a good story backed by some pretty solid data. This book however had too many story lines and was a little hard to follow. All-in-all, I would still suggest it. It's an interesting story, lots of good science, and some good opinions. It's just not up to his standards.

Robert Louis Stevenson's cherished, unforgettable adventure magically captures the thrill of a sea voyage and a treasure hunt through the eyes of its teenage protagonist, Jim Hawkins. Crossing the Atlantic in search of the buried cache, Jim and the ship's crew must brave the elements and a mutinous charge led by the quintessentially ruthless pirate Long John Silver. Brilliantly conceived and splendidly executed, it is a novel that has seized the imagination of generations of adults and children alike.

I remember this story from grade school and loved it. This narrator brought all of the characters to life. Couldn't stop listening.
