According to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch - the world's only totally reliable guide to the future - the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just after tea...The armies of Good and Evil are amassing, the Four Bikers of the apocalypse are revving up, and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not particularly looking forward to the coming rapture.

    Story

Good Omens is one of my favourite books of all time, written by two of my favourite authors. Story is hilarious and excellent. The Narration by Stephen Briggs is a little lacking at times as his voice to me sounds a bit boring, his voices are ok but there are much better narrators out there than him.

Inquisitor Glokta, a crippled and bitter relic of the last war, former fencing champion turned torturer, is trapped in a twisted and broken body - not that he allows it to distract him from his daily routine of torturing smugglers.Nobleman, dashing officer and would-be fencing champion Captain Jezal dan Luthar is living a life of ease by cheating his friends at cards. Vain and shallow, the biggest blot on his horizon is having to get out of bed in the morning to train with obsessive and boring old men.

    Story

Joe Abercrombie's dark fantasy world is compelling. The characters are excellent where none of them are your typical heroes, yet despite any evil they do you still want them to come out on top. The style of writing from different viewpoints gives a great insight into the story and the characters mind and development.

Steven Pacey's performance is excellent, his voices are brilliant and the pace and style of his reading is impeccable, one of the best narrators I have come across.

I would recommend this story and audiobook to all fantasy fans.

War seethed across the planet. Machines soared through the air, churned through the seas, crawled across the surface, pushing ever forward, carrying death. Earth was engaged in titanic struggle. Germany, Russia, France, China, Japan: the maps were changing day by day. The hostilities spread in ever-widening ripples of destruction: Britain, Italy, Africa...the fate of the world hung in the balance. Then the real enemy came.

This is a great alternative history novel, which I have read 2 times, was happy to try the audio book and was not disappointed. The narrator does a good job most of the time, only issue being the change over in scenes is a bit quick and some words seemed a bit chopped off. His voices are very good and seem to be fairly consistent throughout the book.

    The story itself is fantastic.

Set in modern day Moscow, Night Watch is a world as elaborate and imaginative as Tolkien or the best Asimov. Living among us are the "Others," an ancient race of humans with supernatural powers who swear allegiance to either the Dark or the Light. A thousand-year treaty has maintained the balance of power, and the two sides coexist in an uneasy truce. But an ancient prophecy decrees that one supreme "Other" will rise up and tip the balance, plunging the world into a catastrophic war between the Dark and the Light.

The night watch series is one of my favourites and have read the novel 3-4 times. This time I decided to listen on audible. The story still stands out for me as excellent.

The narration was good, but some of the accents felt a bit off, but overall a good performance.

They say Black Dow's killed more men than winter, and clawed his way to the throne of the North up a hill of skulls. The King of the Union, ever a jealous neighbour, is not about to stand smiling by while he claws his way any higher. The orders have been given and the armies are toiling through the northern mud. Thousands of men are converging on a forgotten ring of stones, on a worthless hill, in an unimportant valley, and they've brought a lot of sharpened metal with them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, having read Joe Abercrombie's other books, I decided to listen to this one on audible.

The story is excellent and you get involved with the main characters. The narration and his portrayal of voices and description of battles is excellent, one of the best narrations I have ever listened too.

Long ago, so the Storyteller claimed, the evil god Torak sought dominion and drove men and Gods to war. But Belgrath the Sorcerer led men to reclaim the Orb that protected the West. So long as it lay at Riva, the prophecy went, men would be safe. That was only a story, and Garion did not believe in magic dooms, even though the man without a shadow had haunted him for years.

    Story

The Belgariad series and the opening book are excellent. The narration is good, I was initially wary of the strange pronunciation of words, however I got into it and am now happy with the narration, as well as his accents and voices.

While it is not the best narration, it is still a good narration.

Would recommend to anyone who is a fan of the series or of fantasy generally.
