This is for those who really WANT to know the behind-the-scenes graphic details of what happens to their food (especially meat -- how it's killed, etc) before it gets to you. I was wanting more useful information -- the ABC's of vegetarianism, not the "why's" of veganism. Very disappointed.
The story is okay, but the writing reminds me of a play: the narrator saves it, but when there's a conversation between several characters, each person SAYS the person's name for whom the comment is intended -- so it sounds like you're saying the name of the person who is saying the comment, like in a play reading. Very distracting, hard to enjoy..
I would rank this in the top 5, and I'm a heavy (constant) reader.
Kirsten is probably the BEST performer I've heard, to date... her inflection, pronunciation, and pace are just immaculate. I would be happy if she could go back and re-read everything I've read, and **I would re-purchase them**... I have read many books that **could** have been really wonderful.... but for the narrator. Yes, I would pay again, just to get rid of the annoyance of having someone mispronounce words, or having to stop and replay something in my head to figure out the meaning of the sentence because there's no inflection. I'm looking for more books read by Kirsten! Yay, Kirsten! lol
Very well-written, I enjoyed it very much!!
I've enjoyed all of the Chicagoland vampire series, but this is by far the best -- the new narrator doesn't "trip me up" with mis-pronunciations!! There were many, many times over the course of the first 5 novels that I was annoyed, confused, perplexed by the narrator's inability to sound out words to the point where I would lose my place, have to start the chapter over so that I could remember where the story left off!! Much, much nicer!! Thank you!!
My only hope with this narrator is that she continue to improve the role-playing voices. Her diction, pronunciation, and tone are perfect... she just needs practice with her voicing. Great job!
but the pronunciation b-l-o-w-s. Seriously. When unsure, look it up, and pay attention to the pronunciation. It counts, and it can make or break the story.
