I thought this was an interesting read. She gives many examples of the possibility for our hope of an afterlife from the belivers point of view as well as from the skeptics. It is not really a book to convince you we do or don't go on after death but gives some compelling examples to support this and also explanations for how they could be misinterpreted. I personally like the book and found the readers presentation to be enjoyable. I also found it to be a good book for provoking thought.
I found this book to be a very good read. I have always been fascinated with Tesla's work and this book gives a good introduction to it. I especially like Mike Daisey's portrayal of him. It is very sad that Edison is a household name and Tesla is unknown. He is the true father of electricity with twice as many patents as Edison. It would be difficult to find an electronic device in our homes today that does not in some way use one of Tesla's inventions. X rays, radio, florescent lights, tesla coils, ac motors, particle beam accelerators, wireless power distribution were all first envisioned by Tesla. He changed the world by giving it AC electricity and then scared it with his other crazy ideas, like receiving radio signals from outer space with what could now be considered the first radio telescope. He was also ridiculed for saying that some day people would have radios that would fit in their pocket that could send and receive information from anywhere in the world. I think the thing that really freaked people out though was when his laboratory had lightning bolts that were not shooting from the sky to it, but instead lightning bolts would be shooting FROM his lab to the sky. This book gives a very brief outline of his work and is good for someone who is curios about this very strange man who did things that to this day scientist can not explain.
This book was interesting in telling about how marconi brought radio to the masses and mentions several scientist who helped in the endeavor. I found it to be rather interesting. It does however not mention that the inventor of radio was not marconi but nikola tesla. Marconi had his patent revoked because it was identical to a patent belonging to tesla. Unfortunately it was not uncommon for tesla to not get credit. He also invented the worlds AC power system, AC motors, X ray machine, florescent lights, tesla coil, wireless power distribution, particle beam accelerator, transformer and over 700 other things in nearly every electronic device we use today. In addition to this book I would recommend studio 360's book on tesla.
