Well what can I say, I love Jasinda Wilder, and to have a chance listen to yet another audiobook of hers I was excited. I didn’t read the synopsis on this one , I jumped head first and I was floored! WOW… this book is more darker than I have read in awhile, and at first it took me a minute to figure out what type of book this was, but when I figured it out, I wasn’t sure how to feel about it. It was a good book don’t get me wrong, but I did have alot of questions.
This is the first audio book that I have listened to where the male and female characters shared a chapter, When the female was speaking we had a female and when the male was speaking the male was in. It was different than what i was used to due to that fact, but it blended well with two narrators. The narrators themselves really got in the role of Hunter and Rania
The story takes place in Iraq, Rania a young Arabic girl struggling to survive in the war of Iraq. She turns into a prostitute, and witnesses death all around her. She has no family, no mother, no father, and her brother was now dead. At this point she meets Hunter, the American solider that she saved from interchange of American soldiers and Iraq soldiers.
Hunter is an American Solider, serving in Iraq. With no family, and his best friend Derrick dead, himself injured now, he turns to Rania. Rania does not speak English and Hunter only speaks English. Hunter watches while she prostitutes- and has that sick feeling that he doesn’t like. Rania has to do this- she does this to survive, to eat. However my question is why would Hunter want to engage with a prostitute? Diseases? . But I than have to turn that side of my brain off and realize that Wounded is about sacrifice, healing and surviving and of course love!
At this point , the story moved fairly quickly, and the characters fall in love and get married quickly.
The book couldn’t be read in one sitting for me- well listened :).. It was pretty deep at some points that I had to walk away.
Over all, I enjoyed the story- was it realistic? Yes
Would I recommend to others? Only if you are into the dark stories
Was the narration unique”? Yes- with dual POV made the book more interesting.
HJ Bellus has strong female characters which I love in every book she writes. The narrator was fabulous and kept my attention right away. This story was a unique way of being told, and can't wait to listen to the rest of the series.
I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars because it deserves it, one of the best books I have ever read! I didn’t clean, cook or pay attention to any member of my household, I couldn’t put this book down! It had everything. Love, betrayal, amnesia, weddings, backstabbing, jealousy and more love! I felt everything the characters were feeling and felt myself rooting for each character at a different time. I loved that the chapters were told from different characters points of view and that the story changed between past and present so that we could make our own opinions as we went along in the book. The ending was bittersweet and I was glad there was a sequel so that the story could be wrapped up more securely for me. Amazing book and the ending was perfect!
Andi Arndt was an amazing narrator during this story. She took this story to life, and hooked me from Chapter 1.
I fell in love with Pretty Instinct from the moment the opening line started. Lizzie is such a tough, strong, devoted and loyal person. She takes nurturing to the next level when it comes to Connor her brother.
Tour bus + 4 hot men on the road = Happy Carrie
Lizzie is Type A personality, she needs to control the situations surrounding her. But what she didn’t expect was to pick up Cannon Blackwell, and her control was lost the moment she saw his guitar in hand. Loosing a bandmate, and desperate to find another, the crew finds Cannon at a rest stop. Agreeing to join See you Next Tuesday on a tour bus going country wide, both Cannon and Lizzie get the Pretty Woman factor of instant love.
“You are not in charge, Cannon Blackwell. You do not eat my pussy or pay my bills, so you don’t get a say”
Now I dont know how much i believe in instant love, but I guess when you know you know, and both Lizzy and Cannon know. The quick banter they both share together was easy and flowed without trying, and the compassion and understanding that Cannon has with her brother Conner was amazing.
“Not sure that does it anymore… I worship, no, I live, because you make my heartbeat”
Another beautiful character was Connor- Connor is Lizzy’s brother, and he has some challenges in life, and his her older brother. Lizzy nutured him as if he was her own child. His needs came before anyone else and you knew that thru the whole story. Im so happy he was involved from start to finish in this book.
The boys aka band mates aka family- Jarrett, Rhett the boys that have stayed by her side from the beginning. Nothing would stop them from loving Lizzy & Connor- and the loyalty they have for her- it was very refreshing that these boys didn’t run the story..but as back up and it was nice.
The over all lead of the story was perfect, SE HALL brought you a story that was craving for more. She took you on a family destruction that ended with a wipe of a tear. She makes you feel the anger and hate for one and than love and compassion of another. I felt like I was sitting in that bank opening the safety deposit box reading the letter from her mother. You feel it all, just like all the other books SE HALL brings us, she doesn’t disappoint.
“A daughter’s your daughter for the rest of your life. A son’s a son ’til he takes a wife”
Seriously this is how I felt after listening to a horrible audiobook- the editing sucked, the narrator talked like 100 miles an hour, and lets just say, the cover of this book is nothing like the book?.. Most of the book he was 18 years old, no 18 year looks like that. Emerson was a Stepbrother for like 2 seconds.. okay so really not a valid name for a book- and billionaire?! Not even close.
I really wanted to love this one. I was looking SO FORWARD to the 2nd book in the series, and when I heard the narrators, I was so upset. I just couldn't get into the story, there wasn't as much thrill as Better when he's Bad. This didn't hold my interest like Bax and Dovie did.
Let's just start off by saying, this was an A+ audiobook, so let's get that out of the way. Erin Mallon is becoming one my top favorite female narrators quickly and of course if you have a chance of having Sebastian York narrate your audio, you might as well have a perfect audio.I read this serial right when they were coming out, always on toes when 1 book ended waiting patiently waiting for the next. So when this came out on audiobook, I was more than eager to 1-click this. I fell in love with Andrew Hamilton all over again.VOLUME 1Seriously what would you do with a condescending filthy mouth attorney?! This is Volume 1-3. Andrew is a top attorney in NC and doesn't do relationships- actually he doesn't do more than 1 day flings, these woman he meets online. Except the 1 girl he met online on a lawyers chat- Alyssa aka Audrey, she's everything he didn't want. He doesn't know what she looks like, he doesn't know much other than her profile. While helping Alyssa consult on recent cases- they meet at an internship interview-she wasn't who she said she was.. she was young/beautiful and perfect ballet dancer- he treated her like crap, which brought there sexual desires explode 10 folds. There was so much bickering and drama it didn't take much to draw me into the story and than it ended.. TBC onto Volume 2. VOLUME 2I jumped right into this right after book #1- and when she said "WIFE", I almost laughed to hard. Wouldn't that be odds for Andrew- we didn't get much background regarding this "wife" other than he doesn't want her around and she's contesting their marriage. Andrew and Audrey let things spike to a new level, expect whenever things get tough Andrew tells Audrey to hit the road and refer to him as MR. Hamilton. The ending of this one was awesome.. and I cant wait until we find out about "daddy". VOLUME 3RD3 was a perfect ending to this serial story. when you couldn't love Andrew any more, he come alive and finally realized that Aubrey is his match. The ballerinas dream comes true finally landing her in NYC to become a profession dancer and landing her man the way she wants him. Just excellent, very sexy story that had you on the edge of your seats from Vol 1-3
Beloved was one my top read this year, so when Corinne pushed out Beholden so quickly I was more than excited to read this because lets face it, Beloved left you with a cliff hanger that made you throw your book across the room. Corinne likes to do that to us.
Beholden started where Beloved ended, so if you haven't read Beloved than don't read this review. Minutes,seconds... that's all we knew.. would Jackson be alive or face the ultimate sacrifice.. death. Well we know the latter didn't happen because there wouldn't be a book #2, but...... to end Beloved not knowing what could happen was just evil! :)...
We are left with a prologue that has your stomach all twisted, wondering where Catherine Pope was at the point of time- who's funeral- was it Jackson's??
Over all I hate to mention anything about the book other than you must read it! I know pretty vague right? But one ounce of info shared could ruin a story for others. If you asked me which book I liked better, I would say that Beloved will stay with me, however, Beholden had just amount of goodness, feel goods and intensity. Corinne was able to demonstrate the endless possibilities of friendship, grief, love and happily ever after. I loved Jackson and Catherine's story, Jackson fought hard for what he wanted and portrayed to be a strong man who didn't just love once but twice, and he had to learn to trust his love with someone new. He has experienced so much heartache in life, that he was sure that the one person who fell in his lap that one time was his forever.
Corinne is not done with these characters, Catherine and Jackson's story may be over, but there's a whole new story for their friends.
HOLLIE AND RYAN NAILED CATHERINE AND JACKSON.
THE NARRATOR ERIN MALLON IS QUICKLY BECOMING ONE OF MY TOP NARRATORS. THEREFORE, IT WAS AN EASY LISTEN. THIS AUDIO WAS TOLD IN BOTH OLIVIA AND ZACH'S POV.
OLIVIA MONTGOMERY IS SURPRISED WHEN SHE RUNS INTO AN OLD CLASSMATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL, SOMEONE SHE CRUSHED ON ALMOST ALL 4 YEARS. ZACH PEARSON.
WHAT WOULD BE THE CHANCE THEY BOTH ATTEND THE SAME COLLEGE, SINCE HE WAS A STAR FOOTBALL PLAYER, BUT AS SHE GETS REINTRODUCED TO ZACH IN A WAY THAT SHE WISHED HE WOULD HAVE TREATED HER IN HIGH SCHOOL WAS TOTALLY UNSUSPECTED.
ZACH WAS TOLD TO STAY AWAY FROM THAT MONTGOMERY GIRL BECAUSE OF THE PAST WITH HER MOTHER. HE NEVER REALLY HAD ANYTHING AGAINST HER, BUT TO ASSOCIATE WITH THE "ENEMY" WAS NOT TOLERATED.
OLIVIA STILL COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY ZACH ALWAYS RAN HOT AND COLD, BUT NOW THAT THEY WERE IN COLLEGE AND HAVING A PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO PARIS TOGETHER AS PART OF A CLASS ASSIGNMENT, BRINGS THEM TOGETHER AS FRIENDS, POSSIBLY MORE.
THIS IS NEW ADULT, I LOVE COLLEGE AGE KIDS FINDING ROMANCE. IT WAS SWEET, SEXY AND AGAIN VERY ROMANTIC.
THE CHOICE OF NARRATORS IN THIS AUDIOBOOK, WERE SPOT ON WITH MICHAEL MIA. SAMARA NAEYMI AND LEE SAMUELS WERE OUR NARRATORS. THEIR VOICES WERE TRANQUIL, AND CAPTIVATING. YOU WERE HOOKED FROM THE ENTRANCE OF THE AUDIO ALL THE WAY TO THE END. LEE SAMUELS USED HIS VOICE AND ENCHANTED YOU INTO A FULL 6 HOURS OF PURE BLISS, WHILE SAMARA NAEYMI BRINGS OUT THE EDGE OF MIA'S PERSONALITY.
HOOK ME, IS BOOK TWO OF THE MEN OF INKED SERIES. MICHAEL GALLO AND MIA GRECO ARE OUR MAIN CHARACTERS.
MICHAEL IS OUR UFC CHAMPION AND MIA IS OUR DEDICATED DOCTOR.
MICHAEL AND MIA MEET ONE DAY AT THE HOSPITAL AFTER ONE OF MICHAEL'S FIGHTS, AND MIA TAKES CARE OF HIM, HOWEVER, MIA IS NOT ONE TO APPRECIATE THE FINE WORK OF MARTIAL ARTS. SHE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN FIGHTING, THEREFORE WHEN THE OPPORTUNITY FOR MICHAEL TO ASK MIA OUT, SHE DECLINED HIS OFFER.
MONTHS LATER, THEY MEET AGAIN, UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES, UNDER HIS HOUSE RULES VS HER'S.
MICHAEL FINDS HIMSELF IN A SITUATION, WHICH EVEN HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO DIG HIMSELF OUT OF, AND HE MIGHT NOT HAVE TIME TO FIGURE IT OUT BEFORE HE INVOLVES MIA AND GAINING HER TRUST.
CHELLE TAKES YOU ON A ROLLER COASTER OF CRAZY DRAMA, AND SEXY STEAMY SCENES. THE CHARACTERS ARE REAL LIFE PEOPLE, BUT STRONG.
THIS IS MY FIRST BOOK BY DAWN PENDLETON, AND THE FIRST FROM THE NARRATOR EMILY LINDSAY.
I WOULD SAY THIS WAS ON THE BORDER OF YA/NA. IT WAS A QUICK READ AT 4 HRS AND 55 MINS, THIS BOOK WAS INTERESTING READ, MALLORY IS A COLLEGE AGE GIRL WHO RETURNS BACK HOME TO HER SMALL TOWN HOME TO FIND OUT HER FATHER HAS CANCER. SHE'S IN COLLEGE NOW BACK IN BOSTON IN THE BIG CITY, AND SHE LEFT HER SMALL TOWN TO GET AWAY FROM HER EX-BOYFRIEND LUKE AND FOLLOW HER DREAMS. HER FATHER INSISTED SHE GO TO BOSTON, BUT IN THE LONG RUN KEPT THE FACT THAT HE CANCER FROM HER FOR YEARS. LUKE HER EX-BOYFRIEND WAS A FREQUENT VISITOR OF HER FATHER, AND MADE SURE HE WAS TAKEN CARE OF.
SEE THIS IS THE PART WHERE I THOUGHT WAS CHILDISH. MALLORY WAS A VERY SELFISH PERSON, ONLY CARED FOR HERSELF AND WHAT HER FEELINGS WERE. EVEN THOU HER FATHER DIDN'T FILL HER IN ON HIS CANCER, SHE MADE ME FEEL AS THOU SHE SACRIFICED HER TIME/LOVE TO SPEND THE ENDING MOMENTS WITH HER DAD....
I ENJOYED HER FRIENDS, AND LUKE. I WAS WONDERING IF WE WERE EVER GOING TO FIND OUT WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH RAINEY (MALLORY'S FRIEND). THAT WAS WHAT KEPT ME INTRIGUED, BUT APPEARS IT MAY IN ANOTHER BOOK IN THE SERIES. OVER ALL THERE WAS A HEA, AND ONCE AGAIN MALLORY BEING THE BRAT SHE WAS FINALLY GOT WHAT SHE WANTED.
IN REGARDS TO THE NARRATOR, IT TOOK A WHILE TO ADJUST TO HER VOICE. ITS A LITTLE PITCHY AND THE EDITING ON THE AUDIO WAS AWFUL. SENTENCES WERE REPEATED, WORDS WERE DOUBLED. I'VE LISTENED TO ENOUGH AUDIO WHERE YOU CAN CATCH THAT KIND OF EDITING BUT THIS WAS VERY OBVIOUS AND DONE AT LEAST 10 TIMES THRU OUT THE BOOK.
OVER ALL I'M RATING THE BOOK 4 STARS.
