Well what can I say, I love Jasinda Wilder, and to have a chance listen to yet another audiobook of hers I was excited. I didn’t read the synopsis on this one , I jumped head first and I was floored! WOW… this book is more darker than I have read in awhile, and at first it took me a minute to figure out what type of book this was, but when I figured it out, I wasn’t sure how to feel about it. It was a good book don’t get me wrong, but I did have alot of questions.
This is the first audio book that I have listened to where the male and female characters shared a chapter, When the female was speaking we had a female and when the male was speaking the male was in. It was different than what i was used to due to that fact, but it blended well with two narrators. The narrators themselves really got in the role of Hunter and Rania
The story takes place in Iraq, Rania a young Arabic girl struggling to survive in the war of Iraq. She turns into a prostitute, and witnesses death all around her. She has no family, no mother, no father, and her brother was now dead. At this point she meets Hunter, the American solider that she saved from interchange of American soldiers and Iraq soldiers.
Hunter is an American Solider, serving in Iraq. With no family, and his best friend Derrick dead, himself injured now, he turns to Rania. Rania does not speak English and Hunter only speaks English. Hunter watches while she prostitutes- and has that sick feeling that he doesn’t like. Rania has to do this- she does this to survive, to eat. However my question is why would Hunter want to engage with a prostitute? Diseases? . But I than have to turn that side of my brain off and realize that Wounded is about sacrifice, healing and surviving and of course love!
At this point , the story moved fairly quickly, and the characters fall in love and get married quickly.
The book couldn’t be read in one sitting for me- well listened :).. It was pretty deep at some points that I had to walk away.
Over all, I enjoyed the story- was it realistic? Yes
Would I recommend to others? Only if you are into the dark stories
Was the narration unique”? Yes- with dual POV made the book more interesting.
THIS IS MY FIRST BOOK BY DAWN PENDLETON, AND THE FIRST FROM THE NARRATOR EMILY LINDSAY.
I WOULD SAY THIS WAS ON THE BORDER OF YA/NA. IT WAS A QUICK READ AT 4 HRS AND 55 MINS, THIS BOOK WAS INTERESTING READ, MALLORY IS A COLLEGE AGE GIRL WHO RETURNS BACK HOME TO HER SMALL TOWN HOME TO FIND OUT HER FATHER HAS CANCER. SHE'S IN COLLEGE NOW BACK IN BOSTON IN THE BIG CITY, AND SHE LEFT HER SMALL TOWN TO GET AWAY FROM HER EX-BOYFRIEND LUKE AND FOLLOW HER DREAMS. HER FATHER INSISTED SHE GO TO BOSTON, BUT IN THE LONG RUN KEPT THE FACT THAT HE CANCER FROM HER FOR YEARS. LUKE HER EX-BOYFRIEND WAS A FREQUENT VISITOR OF HER FATHER, AND MADE SURE HE WAS TAKEN CARE OF.
SEE THIS IS THE PART WHERE I THOUGHT WAS CHILDISH. MALLORY WAS A VERY SELFISH PERSON, ONLY CARED FOR HERSELF AND WHAT HER FEELINGS WERE. EVEN THOU HER FATHER DIDN'T FILL HER IN ON HIS CANCER, SHE MADE ME FEEL AS THOU SHE SACRIFICED HER TIME/LOVE TO SPEND THE ENDING MOMENTS WITH HER DAD....
I ENJOYED HER FRIENDS, AND LUKE. I WAS WONDERING IF WE WERE EVER GOING TO FIND OUT WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH RAINEY (MALLORY'S FRIEND). THAT WAS WHAT KEPT ME INTRIGUED, BUT APPEARS IT MAY IN ANOTHER BOOK IN THE SERIES. OVER ALL THERE WAS A HEA, AND ONCE AGAIN MALLORY BEING THE BRAT SHE WAS FINALLY GOT WHAT SHE WANTED.
IN REGARDS TO THE NARRATOR, IT TOOK A WHILE TO ADJUST TO HER VOICE. ITS A LITTLE PITCHY AND THE EDITING ON THE AUDIO WAS AWFUL. SENTENCES WERE REPEATED, WORDS WERE DOUBLED. I'VE LISTENED TO ENOUGH AUDIO WHERE YOU CAN CATCH THAT KIND OF EDITING BUT THIS WAS VERY OBVIOUS AND DONE AT LEAST 10 TIMES THRU OUT THE BOOK.
OVER ALL I'M RATING THE BOOK 4 STARS.
OUT OF ALL THE MARKED MEN SERIES, THIS WAS OKAY. I LISTENED TO THIS ONE ON AUDIO, AND I WAS REALLY EXCITED ABOUT ANOTHER MARKED MEN ROWDY. HOWEVER, THIS ONE TOOK ME AWHILE TO GET THRU, THERE WASNT ALOT OF ACTION LIKE I'VE GROWN ACCUSTOM TO LIKE RULE,ROME AND NASH.
THE NARRATORS ON THIS ONE WERE PRETTY GOOD. ALEXANDRA MARCUSE AND CODY HAMMERSMITH PORTRAYED ROWDY AND SALEM PERFECTLY. I FELL IN LOVE WITH SALEM ALMOST FROM THE START, AND ROWDY, WELL WHO WOULDN'T LOVE ROWDY.
ROWDY ST.JAMES IS THE SINGLE BACHELOR OF THE MARKED MEN, AND ONE DAY HIS WORLD WAS TURNED UPSIDE DOWN WHEN HIS PAST WALKED IN TO THE MARK, AND ONE HE DIDN'T ANTICIPATE. PHIL KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING BY HAVING NASH AND RULE CALL SALEM CRUZ TO COME WORK AT THE SHOP. SALEM DID HER RESEARCH AND KNEW ROWDY WAS THEIR BUT ROWDY DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE. IN WALKS SALEM, BRUNETTE TATTOOED DIVA WITH A MISSION TO GET HER MAN SHE ONCE LOVED MANY YEARS AGO. A STORY IN THE PAST WITH HER SISTER POPPY, SHE KNEW ROWDY WAS ONCE AGAIN NOT HERS.
SOMEWHERE TOWARD THE END WAS WHEN THE STORY PICKED UP TO THE ROMANCE SUSPENSE- THE PART I LIKED. POPPY APPEARS AND BROUGHT HER BAGGAGE AND SALEM WAS THERE ONCE AGAIN TO PICK UP HER PIECES. THE "GROUP" STUCK TOGETHER TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER DURING BAD TIMES, AND HEA WAS ALL I WAS LOOKING FOR. IN THE END ROYAL, NASH'S ACROSS THE HALL NEIGHBOR WHO IS DROP DEAD GORGEOUS POLICE WOMAN GETS HURT.. WELL WE DON'T KNOW FOR SURE- JAY LEAVES THAT UP IN THE AIR CONSIDERING THE EX-CRIMINAL ASA HAS A SOFT SPOT FOR ROYAL, LEAVING US IN THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES : ROYAL AND ASA'S STORY
***Not my typical read- no romance suspense like my typical MO.. , mystery audio book done with my favorite narrators***
I have to note that Nick Podehl was phenomenal in this book- the different voices in the book was unbelievably real, that you truly thought multiple readers were narrating!! Bravo Brilliance audio on the selection of Amy and Nick!!!
This wasn't may typical read, even thou I'm HUGE on romance suspense, this was not romance suspense. This was just a mystery suspense that kept me guessing thru the whole story. I really thought maybe Mason's partner was involved but the last person I thought would be who it was- without mentioning names.
The book was about a little girl that was kidnapped, and Mason our main character was the little girl's family. His son Jake is the little girls step-brother. Being a detective he wanted to be the voice of reason for the public to help find the little girl and help support the family. However, what Mason didn't know was he found himself smack right in the middle of a murder investigation that points him out as the murderer of an informant. Putting his issue aside knowing he didn't kill anyone, he focused on getting the little girl back.
The story leads you in all sorts of directions, on who was the kidnapper. But the twist of events putting him and his son in the spotlight was what I least expected. This was again was one of the best audiobooks I've ever listened to, and kept me intrigued from Chapter 1. If you are looking for a mystery read than this one is for you.
I found this book by searching for books that Amy McFadden has narrated and I'm so glad I found it!!
Jackson Cole stole my heart- Can I give this 6 stars?? For being a debut novel this author has no problem grabbing your attention right from the start. The writing was genuine, the plot was solid, and character growth was amazing! Corinne made you want this alpha male more than most characters that have been appearing, and I can honestly say this is in my top 5 of 2014!
Beware this has a nasty cliff so be on the edge of your seat, making for a highly anticipated 2nd book!!!
Narrators on this book is Hollie Jackson- she has one of the sweetest voices ever, and she plays Catherine Pope to a T! But not only did we get an awesome narrator, we get a SEXY narrator in the end of the book that plays Jackson's prologue!! OMG!!!! He's got a great voice and has me wanting to listen to Beholden coming soon!!!!! I think he may the mystery man.. making me so mad! :)...
I almost DNF this one, because I was so confused that I was like uhh.. okay, but once I reached the airplane scene it was smooth sailing. It was a very depressing book, I can tell you that but..... it ended with a happy ending.
Two broken lost souls reunite not after 2 but the 3rd time fate brought them together. This book reminded me a little of Final Destination where both were skipping there ultimate ending. Except this time around two young adults learn what death could really mean.
Mikki and Crush meet again, after a plane delay leaving them together not by choice but by destiny, both seek each other's trust, and discover that even thou death was there ultimate goal, love defeated their odds. Both Mikki and Crush had two things in common- death and the black box. I'm still confused little about the Black Box, but over all it ended well.
Narrators in this story were great, they made you feel like Mikki and Crush's world were going to end, done in duel narration.
I read this book awhile ago, but since it came out on audiobook I had to listen to it again. The narrators on this one were great- Noah's voice was exceptional the female narrator was good but I fell in love with Noah all over again. This was done with Dual narration and the story was brought to life.
This is book 1 of the Woodlands Series- and this is Noah and Grace's story. Noah is a ex Marie- and Grace is a young college student who became pen pals with Noah while in high school- writing to the troops over seas. 4 years the two become 1- the letters that helped Noah get thru his time overseas- even thou Noah was 4 years older than him, he fell in love with Grace as Grace did with him. 2 years ago, Noah decided it was only right to friend zone Grace, she came from a rich family and he did not- he couldn't meet her with knowledge he couldn't properly provide her with a life that she was accustomed to.
After a long heartbreak Grace finally realizes that Noah is attending her college, and she doesn't know why. The two become friends, and he fights for her to become his.
The two had some trust issues- well mainly Grace, and Noah was nothing but a strong leading man in the story. Ex-Marine, up and coming UFC fighter, he fights for what he wants even thou Grace doesn't know it. He takes what he wants, while she's indecisive. He gives her a life that she thinks she doesn't deserve.
Over all this was cute story, any story with a love sick puppy alpha male gets me every time, along with Jen Frederick being one of my favorite writers, Connor Kelly-Eiding and Andrew Eiden did well on portraying the story how it was meant to be.
I listened to this audiobook- and 1st wanted to comment that the narrator did a very good job portraying both Monica and Trey.
Monica Remy is a ultra liberal/pro-woman. Now this is prob my first story that was about politics, and as I prob wont read another politic book again, this was still a great book. It had important issues such as rape/fraternity's/morning after-pills, and dealing with emotional side of being raped.
Monica Remy transfers from one college to the next because facing her accuser wasn't what she wanted to do, she wanted to start her life over, and still finish her degree. She so happens to move in the same apartment is the Illinois governor's son Trey Chapman. Even thou Trey Chapman is the governors son, he still has the same beliefs as his dad's which goes all against Monica's liberal views.
Most of the beginning of the book has them bantering about there political views, but they quickly develop a chemistry. What I do enjoy about the book as when comes the sex part, she completed a role reverse. Where the woman is the experienced one while Trey was the virgin. I was JUMPING for joy when things did pick up the pace, I was cheering for Monica when it does happen...
“He kissed me with a fire like no other, as if he were afraid breaking the kiss would break us.”
The ending was a little rushed, but I was glad that she was able to face her accuser and everyone else that was that was involved. Trey was truly her Only Exception.
Magan is fantastic writer, and it shows when she puts the details and flows her words together, this is the 2nd book I've read of hers and will continue to read the rest of the series.
I couldn't wait to listen to this one.. The male narrator grabs your attention right away and he was perfect for Shane 'Bax' Baxter
Bax has been recently let out of jail after being out away for the past 5 year, knowing he was set up by his best friend.. He needed to find him, except what he found was his sister! Dovie is a lost broken girl from the Point and there was something about Bax that kept her wanting more of him even thou Bax warned her he was nothing but trouble, the alpha male tattooed up with a tattoo on his face he was trouble.
But in the end there is more than a bad boy- a man that will protect you until the end, you wonder what going to happen to Bax and Dovie- Jay Crownover def went outside the box on this story, nothing like the Marked Men Series, and If you like the suspense this is for you! This audio was highly addicting, the voices were more than perfect for the characters!!!!
"You don't need anyone to show you how to be good, you're so much better when you're bad."
" Some boys...they are just better when they're bad. Bax is one of them and I'm starting to think my brother might be one of them, too. I just have to be good enough for all of us to balance it out."
“She was the epitome of everything good that came from bad people and a bad place.”
This is the 3rd installment of the A Wild One’s Novel by M.Leighton. This author is prob one of my favorites around, and she surely knows how to write sexy hot alpha males that dominate the woman in the stories. But they aren’t jerks, they are by far a dream come true. With this 3rd installment she didn’t disappoint. I recently read some negative reviews, but I don’t get how that could happen, but in my case, I listened to the audiobook of this one which makes these Wild One Novels 100x’s better. The narrator is Amy McFadden, and again she is by far one of my favorite narrators, therefore you feel every character from start to finish. The other co-narrator Nick Podehl is just as good, and does very well working with Amy.
In this third installment, this story is about Jet and Violet. Violet is a very conscious, fully aware of her surroundings of people that have a weakness for help. Hence she’s a case worker. She takes care of everyone including her BFF and her father. While helping her friend out and attended a SAA meeting (Sex Addiction) she meets the bad boy rocker Jet. What a place to meet your next someone! They both go into this story with lies, even thou we know Violets right off the bat, its Jet’s that leaves you in anticipation of what he’s hiding from Violet. Even thou Jet is not very shy on proclaiming he wants Violet, Violet fights every step of it.
“Don’t you understand, Jet? You were my weakness. You are my weakness.”
Once they finally take trip to New Orleans, and Jet shows Violet a good time. However, was it a mistake? After she confesses her lies, she thought what on earth could happen to them now, the lies have been revealed but Jet holds the one secret that must be told, and he has to earn her trust once again..
“You are the beautiful notes in every song I sing. You are the beautiful face behind every lyric I write. You are my reason, my muse. You’re the love I was waiting for, the one thing I can’t live without.”
This book was good, not the best of M.Leightons but it was good enough for a 5 star, you get the suspense, sex and the HEA all wrapped up in one.
I had to stop quarter way thru- I read this book already- and it was super awesome- but the narration was really bad- the narrator was yelling thru out the whole audiobook- did not like. Its a poor reflection on Kendalls book which again was awesome!!!
