Every first Sunday in June, members of the Moses clan gather for an annual reunion at “the old home place,” a sprawling hundred-acre farm in Arkansas. And every year, Samuel Lake, a vibrant and committed young preacher, brings his beloved wife, Willadee Moses, and their three children back for the festivities. But just as the reunion is getting under way, tragedy strikes, jolting the family to their core.

This book is not written from just one characters view, but you are able to get glimpses inside their heads at times. Well managed, could of been messy, but this was a joy to listen to!

Without spoilers, It was nice to see a loving family, not perfect by any means, come together to help each other through rough times and just to see how life can change your view in an instant. How the family came together in different ways to manage life's detours and forks was heartwarming and felt true to life. I will listen to this book again!!! I also ADORED the daughters name!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The book is not terrible, it just was not what I was expecting based on what I had read about this book and I was disappointed

What was most disappointing about Maile Meloy’s story?

The story was tame, and sort of preachy about war

What three words best describe Cristin Milioti’s performance?

    Good Character voices

Could you see The Apothecary being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I would not go see it, so I wont put any effort into the question

    Any additional comments?

This is a good book but just not a fit for my reading preferences, probably best for kids under 6th grade

I got sucked in, and even though this is a truly twisted story, it was so well done that I did not have a chance to second guess where the story was taking you, and have to admit I did get a surprise at the ending.

Beth Hoffman’s bestselling debut, Saving CeeCee Honeycutt, won admirers and acclaim with its heartwarming story and cast of unforgettable characters. Now her unique flair for evocative settings and richly drawn Southern personalities shines in her compelling new novel, Looking for Me.

I loved this book, I much preferred it to Saving CeeCee Honeycut.

Loved this book about finding your passion and following it, but also just how complicated family love can be as well. It wasn't a true "happy ending" for me and I got a bit lost/didn't care about the brother anymore at the end of the book and that's the reason its only a 4 star review

Eva never really wanted to be a mother - and certainly not the mother of a boy who ends up murdering seven of his fellow high school students, a cafeteria worker, and a much-adored teacher who tried to befriend him, all two days before his 16th birthday. Now, two years later, it is time for her to come to terms with marriage, career, family, parenthood, and Kevin’s horrific rampage, in a series of startlingly direct correspondences with her estranged husband, Franklin.

I only managed to get to chapter 4 before I could truly take this book no longer.
The mother has spent the entire time writing letters to the father justifying their decision to have a child in the first place and while I appreciate a broad vocabulary, she comes off as a self centered snob who is only trying to impress you with her knowledge of words. Considering this was supposed to be a book about the after affects of a teen high school shooter and so far its all about the mother and her conceits, I cannot recommend this book. The rambling memories and still not having brought me into caring about either one of the "supposed" main characters, and the descriptors using 15 big words when 2 would do....

I will try something else from the narrator she sounded good but the words she was reading alternated between making me just want to skim (hard to do in an audio book and I'm certainly NOT wasting money on this book in publication) or fall asleep (and considering that I listen while commuting that's not good either).

Someone Else's Love Story is beloved and highly acclaimed New York Times best-selling author Joshilyn Jackson's funny, charming, and poignant novel about science and miracles, secrets and truths, faith and forgiveness; about falling in love, and learning that things aren't always what they seem - or what we hope they will be.

Would you try another book from Joshilyn Jackson and/or Joshilyn Jackson?

I have read several of her books previously that I loved but this one just rambled on and on, the writing was solid but I just did not bring myself care for the characters or the situation, and the ending I found so far fetched...

Also, her previous recordings she has a sweet southern accent and for this one she has changed her voice, and tried using different voices for her characters and it just did not appeal to me

Would you be willing to try another one of Joshilyn Jackson’s performances?

it depends, i will have to wait and see

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

My only reaction was waiting for something good/bad to happen, and then dissapointment when nothing did

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was ok, I was glad that i finally have the whole story, have never manages to see the entire movie through from start to finish and it does go a bit more in depth into the character inner dialogue, explaining the actions

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

most interesting???; Least interesting was that it just seemed to drag on towards the end

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I think the narrators were fine, it was sort of nice having 2 different voices for the 2 charecters

Could you see Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    its already been done

All the Pretty Horses, the first volume of the Borders Trilogy, tells of young John Grady Cole, the last of a long line of Texas ranchers. Across the border Mexico beckons; beautiful and desolate, rugged and cruelly civilized. With two companions, he sets off on an idyllic, sometimes comic adventure, to a place where dreams are paid for in blood.
