Philip Marlowe is a fictional private eye created by Raymond Chandler. Marlowe first appeared, under that name, in The Big Sleep, published in 1939. The Adventures of Philip Marlowe was a radio series featuring the Marlowe character. It first aired 17 June 1947 on NBC radio and moved to CBS radio a few months later. By 1949, it had the largest audience in radio. The CBS version ran for 114 episodes. While many fans of classic hard-boiled detective stories are familiar with Chandler's novels and short stories, few have heard these radio shows.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

All though, billed as staring Van Cliburn he is only in the first two, the rest star Gerald Mohr. The stories are a radio version of film noir, most are written with a wonderful mix of mystery and humor. This is in my opinion is the greatest mystery old time mystery show I have heard, I have listened to 64 so far and only two have only the first half. With 105 shows total this is a great value, the quality of these 63 year old recordings are in great shape, nice and clear audio. If you like mysteries and incredible atmosphere this is a great value.

What other book might you compare The Adventures of Philip Marlowe: Old Time Radio - 105 Shows to and why?

"SUSPENSE", "THE INNER SANCTUM" and "THE SHADOW"

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

    Incredible

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    All great.

    Any additional comments?

I have been an OTR fan for years and this is among the best.

The world's oldest celebration comes to life in The End of Summer: Thirteen Tales of Halloween, an anthology that honors the darkest and strangest night of the year. Each story is designed to be intrinsically and intimately about Halloween - its traditions, its myths, and its effects - and they run the gamut from horrifying to heartbreaking. Demons are faced, death is defied, and love is tested. And not everyone makes it out alive. The End of Summer has arrived.

Would you consider the audio edition of The End of Summer to be better than the print version?

I enjoyed.both versions, the reader did a great job.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Because this book had 13 short stories, there were so many great stories, this entire book was fantastic.

Which character – as performed by Jay B. Scott – was your favorite?

Probably the spirit of the old.man waiting to find out were he was going to spend his afterlife.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The story about the uncle without children that carved elaborate pumpkins and took his niece and nephews trick or treating every year and then read them ghost stories and just spent time with them.

    Any additional comments?

This is just a great book, from comedic tales, heartwarming and horror. This book has it all and makes you really get into the season.
