No, make that surprisingly GREAT! I loved this series. Each book gets better and better. This isn't a sword and sorcery book (my favorite), but there is a little magic in it and more in each book in the series. This is the story of a young woman who seeks a life in the military and about her growth both in the military and personally and her rise as a warrior and magically in a world where magic is a sin. I was really hesitant to buy it, but I'm sure glad I did. I highly recommend it.

Vosper's Revenge is the final book in Kristian Alva's popular Dragon Stones trilogy. As the races of Durn stand on the brink of war, the power-hungry emperor plans his conquest of the entire continent. The dragon riders are fragmented. They have been scattered across the land; weakened by the discovery of a traitor in their own ranks. Are the riders strong enough to defeat Vosper before he destroys them all?

which is as a nice chang for me, and I'm going to continue to listen to the rest os the series. I bought this series when it was on sale, without using credits, and I recommend that others do the same, as its not bad, nor great, and the books are relatively short, especially for me, because I like books that are 20 or more hours long...more book for the credit. The narrator continues to be excellent; however, the doesnt have a vast amount of character voices, and there are more than a few characters that have the same voice. Still, he reads well, pausing in the right tome, for the right length of time, and is able to put emotion appropriate for the characters in appropriate time.

Only a handful of dragons and riders remain; living in exile in the desert. When young Elias Dorgumir finds a carved dragon stone in the forest, it brings empire soldiers to his doorstep, and puts Elias on the run with a bounty on his head.

One of the other reviewers remarked about the similarities of this book to so many other popular series, and that he basically listened to this series just because the narrator does such an excellent job compaired to the other series. I agree! Still, one of those other series is by far one of my all time favorites, and this one just gets 3.5 - 4 stars.

The first book in this series (The Forsaken Lands) is Very Good, but the second one is Excellant! It picks up right after the first book and takes off running. The first book was slow to start and didn't have my full attention until a quarter, or maybe a third the way through and then it really drew me in. The Dagger's Path, on the other hand, captivated me from the start and I just couldn't put it down. I love Epic Fantasy, and one of the things that I am always on the look out for is a unique and believable Magic System. Well, this one has not only one, but two, and it's not the other side of the same coin kind of thing, it's two distinct, unique, and believable magic systems, and the author actually pulls it off. Looking back I can see that there is some foreshadowing of the second Magic System, but I never would have connected the dots if I had not listened to the second book. I mentioned in my review of The Lascar's Dagger that there weren't witches and warlocks tossing spells at each other, and there's not in this book either, but there's definitely magic going on here and more. The pacing in this book is great, it doesn't get bogged down, and there's a lot more stuff going on than in The Lascar's Dagger. The story was totally unpredictable to me, I couldn't guess what was going to happen next, and then the last four hours totally blew my mind away. As I was listening to the last couple of hours of the book, I kept thinking WOW, I didn't see that comming, and I'd rewind just to experience it again. In fact right after I finished the book I went back several chapters just for the sheer enjoyment of it, I listened to it again. I have well over 700 titles in my library,. They are predominantly epic fantasy seriies and one of my Top 20 Favorite Epic Fantasy Series was just bumped off and replaced by this series. As for the narrator, well ge did an excellent job! He has a range of character voices and he used the same individual voice for each individual character in this book as he did in the first, he also had new voices for each new character introduced in this book. What more could you ask for in a narrator? I highly recommend this series to anyone that likes epic fantasy and for fans of Magic Systems.

Saker appears to be a simple priest, but in truth he's a spy for the head of his faith. Wounded in the line of duty by a Lascar sailor's blade, the weapon seems to follow him home. Unable to discard it, nor the sense of responsibility it brings, Saker can only follow its lead. The dagger puts Saker on a journey to distant shores, on a path that will reveal terrible secrets about the empire, about the people he serves, and destroy the life he knows.

This is a great book! It took a while to fully engage me, but it was worth the wait. It just got better and better and the end of the story left me wanting more...so many cliffhangers at the end of the book. I enjoyed the storyso much that I already have the second book downloaded and I'm going to start listening to it as soon as I finish this review. The narrator was excellent! This will be one of the books that I'll listen to again sometime. It has an interesting magic system, but if your looking for witches or wizards you won't find them here, but this story certainly has a magic system that is very unique, and refreshing.

She has few friends and even fewer allies in Hightower, where social and academic status is crucial. Her brother NIKSELPIK is an obstinate wizard who drinks heavily, sings dirty songs, and makes unmannerly passes at gnomestresses.

This is a fun, easy listen. I liked the the world the Author created and all of the names of the different things in it. I started surfing for my next listen a little more than half way through and that's never a good sign. I finish it though and I'm giving it a 4 for creativity. The narrator was excellent! He had quite a range of voices for each of the characters. I'll know what I'm in for if I get the next book, which i may do, but for now I'm going on to something else.

I was leary about purchasing this book just because of the cover art. I thought it would be cheesy and for kids. I'm glad I went ahead and bought it though. I was totally engrossed in the story. I won't give any spoilers, lets just say I was really suprised. Especially since I googled the book, found the authors web page, and learned that the authors use "Beta Readers" and I can only guess that they must self publish, not that there is anything wrong with that. I have over 700 fantasy titles in my library and this one is probably in the top 50 of them, at least if categorized by "Epic Fantasy". I understand that there are going to be 7 books in this series. I can't wait for the next book, which I believe should come out April or May 2015. The narrator was really great. I've never listened to this narrator before and he did an excellent job. However, he did mispronounce some words and that was a little irritating.

It was a bright, warm spring day when Alador sat upon the hilltop looking down at the valley below him. He knew he did not fit into the world around him. His presence was tolerated and accepted but not welcomed. Little did he know how much his life would change that day. How could one large stone make such a difference in one's world? Renamaum, was a large blue dragon with one desire. He wanted the pact between man and dragon re-established. He wanted the hunting of the eggs and fledglings to stop.

The narrator read the book as if he was addressing a very young audience, but some of the subject matter in the book is more, well adult in nature. It's not graphic, or anything, so maybe it's suitable for someone who is a very young teen. I'm in my 50's and still love books about dragons, but this one never really went anywhere and was really predictable. I was left feeling really disappointed.

that the narrator would improve in the 2nd book, but he didnt. The story is ok, certainty not epic fantasy, and so far there really hasn't been a lot of magic, or the magic system at al, other than it's Elemental. I'm only going to listen to the last book, because I already purchased it and it's not some teen romance trying to be fantasy literature.

At least after you get used to him. The first few minutes are horrible and there are other times throughout the book when the raspy, forced-fast talking comes and goes. And then he is a mouth breather, which is more annoying, but that's not as big an issue. The book itself is pretty good, not quite epic, but good. At least it's good enough for me to get the next.
