What made the experience of listening to Star Wars: Dark Force Rising the most enjoyable?

    The narration is masterful!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

This should be a two book series.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    The scenes with the Nogri

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I wouldn't make a movie about an unnecessary book.

    Any additional comments?

The series starts off great, but then it drags on and on. I found myself zoning out through a lot of the book because there are huge portions that just very compelling.

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

What disappointed you about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?

I had a very hard time connecting with any of the characters.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    The Killer Next Door

What didn’t you like about Simon Vance’s performance?

    Everything, it boring and monotone.

What character would you cut from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?

    All of them

    Any additional comments?

To all who think this is a good book: You are literary retards! I have listened for 5 hours now and it is just terrible. There needs to be more dialogue. I hate it when an author just writes frivolously about nothing. Get to the point! The movie was garbage, and the book is worse.

For James, that stranger is awakened when his wife, Arlette, proposes selling off the family homestead and moving to Omaha, setting in motion a gruesome train of murder and madness.

Where does Full Dark, No Stars rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's extremely well written, and Stephen King at his absolute creepiest.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved Craig Wasson he is an excellent narrator. 1922 is one of the most haunting stories I have ever heard.

Have you listened to any of Craig Wasson and Jessica Hecht ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to several of Craig Wasson's books, I wish he did more audiobooks because he isa brilliant narrator. Jessica Hecht, on the other hand, is dreadful and nearly ruined her stories she read.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I have never been "moved" by an audiobook.

    Any additional comments?

This is Stephen King at his absolute creepiest, there are several very uncomfortable scenes in the book. At times I had to take a break because the stories were very dark.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Anyone with a brain will be turned off by this book. So if you like this book you have the mental acumen of a trash can lid.

Has Beneath the Dark Ice turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not at all, but it has turned me off to the narrator and author.

How could the performance have been better?

I don't know, maybe if the narrator didn't sound like the original Batman Adam West, and the author actually tried I little bit.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Laughter! The book was so ridiculous that I laughed out loud several times, because it was so absurd!

    Any additional comments?

This is by far and away the worst book I have ever read, or heard. I will never download another book from this author.

Possibly to a friend who is experiencing a loss.

    Stephen Kings annoying nasal voice.

What aspect of Stephen King’s performance would you have changed?

He needs to stick to writing.

Who was the most memorable character of Bag of Bones and why?

    I don't know.

This book was well written, but not for me. It is not what I was expecting. I was wanting a fast paced thriller, and what I got was guy experiencing a terrible loss. It's not what I want to hear as I drive down the road.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

What did you like about this audiobook?

The audiobook was OK at best.

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

    No, it actually decreased it.

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

No, the movie was much better because it cut out all of the fluff.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

The female narrator was abysmal, and should not be allowed to ruin any more books.

Do you have any additional comments?

This book was just ok, it had very incomplete character development. The brother and sister were really terribly written characters, they lacked cohesion. When the female narrator was the voice for Peter it was simply awful.

    Yes it has!

Would you be willing to try another one of Sissy Spacek’s performances?

    No, she is terrible.

What character would you cut from To Kill a Mockingbird?

    All of them!

    Any additional comments?

I only listed to about 3 hours of this book, and I simply could not continue. After nearly a quarter of the way through the book there should be a plot or some form of crisis, but this book drones on and on about absolutely nothing. Their was no point! The narrator was dreadful. I could not tell when she would switch characters because they all sounded the same. Her attempt at Southern twang, was an abomination.

Welcome to the fabled Gold Coast, that stretch on the North Shore of Long Island that once held the greatest concentration of wealth and power in America. Here two men are destined for an explosive collision: John Sutter, Wall Street lawyer, holding fast to a fading aristocratic legacy; and Frank Bellarosa, the Mafia don who seizes his piece of the staid and unprepared Gold Coast like a latter-day barbarian chief and draws Sutter and his regally beautiful wife, Susan, into his violent world.

The Narrator was flat, and uninspired.

Maybe I didn't give this book a chance because I only listened to the first 2 hours, and couldn't take any more. There is a lot of character development, but the more I got to know the characters the less I liked them.

Probably not, The only book I have ever listened to more than one time was Steelheart.

What other book might you compare Firefight to and why?

Steel heart! Because it was the first book in the series.

Which character – as performed by MacLeod Andrews – was your favorite?

He does a tremendous job with all of the characters, but my favorite is the main character, David.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Nothing says love like having a gun pointed at my head with the safety on."

    Any additional comments?

Ever since I listened to Steelheart, I couldn't wait for this book to come out. I had very high hopes for the book, and it delivered. This series is by far the most enjoyable series of books I have ever had the pleasure to listen. Even if you don't really listen to this type of book it is worth the listen. It's kind of like Star Wars in that even you don't have to be a die hard sci fi fan to appreciate a good story.
