When our founding fathers secured the Constitutional “right of the people to keep and bear arms”, they also added the admonition that this right shall not be infringed. It is the only time this phrase appears in the Bill of Rights. So why aren’t more people listening? History has proven that guns are essential to self-defense and liberty - but tragedy is a powerful force and has led many to believe that guns are the enemy, that the Second Amendment is outdated, and that more restrictions or outright bans on firearms will somehow solve everything. They are wrong.

From politics to the personal, from fashion to food, from the campus to the locker room, the desire to be cool has infected all aspects of our lives. At its most harmless, it is annoying. At its worst, it is deadly, on a massive scale. The Cool are the termites of life, infiltrating every nook and cranny and destroying it from within. The Cool report the news, write the scripts, teach our children, run our government - and each day they pass judgment on those who don’t worship their coolness.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Not unless children could never hear it.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

How people have no common sense if they think doing or believing in something will cause them to be perceived as "cool."

What does Steve Kramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Voice inflections are similar to GG, but not GG.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    no

    Any additional comments?

Rough language and crude references made it hard to enjoy - especially in light of the fact that my 9 year old son is in the car with me a lot.

In his giant New York Times best seller, America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It, Mark Steyn predicted collapse for the rest of the Western World. Now, he adds, America has caught up with Europe on the great rush to self-destruction. What will a world without American leadership look like? It won’t be pretty—not for you and not for your children. America’s decline won’t be gradual, like an aging Europe sipping espresso at a café until extinction. No, America’s decline will be a wrenching affair marked by violence and possibly secession.

What did you love best about After America?

    Mark Steyn's delivery is impeccable.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    na

What about Mark Steyn’s performance did you like?

His wit and satire are uniquely his - nobody does it like Steyn.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

How little the US has accomplished in the last three generations.

    Any additional comments?

Important message for all Americans who give a d.... Sad that it takes a Canadian from Britain who loves the USA to point out how dire the path we (and our allies) have followed is.
