  • Queen of the Night: A Novel of Suspense

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 58 mins)
    • By J. A. Jance
    • Narrated By Greg Itzin
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Every summer, in an event that is commemorated throughout the Tohono O'odham Nation, the Queen of the Night flower blooms in the Arizona desert. But one couple's intended celebration is shattered by gunfire, the sole witness to the bloodshed a little girl who has lost the only family she's ever known.

Jean says: "great READ; so-so listen"
    "Queen of the Night"

I really enjoyed all the main/pertinent characters. Definitely different than usual. I wholeheartedly enjoyed the Native American aspect of the novel. I have read/heard all of the books, available to me, and loved them all... JoAnn Brady, J. P. Beaumont, I truly hope J. A. Jance writes more about these characters.

  • The Heist: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 26 mins)
    • By Janet Evanovich, Lee Goldberg
    • Narrated By Scott Brick
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare is known for her fierce dedication and discipline on the job, chasing down the world’s most wanted criminals and putting them behind bars. Her boss thinks she is tenacious and ambitious; her friends think she is tough, stubborn, and maybe even a bit obsessed. And while Kate has made quite a name for herself for the past five years the only name she’s cared about is Nicolas Fox - an international crook she wants in more ways than one.

Janels says: "Evanovich, no longer trite--entertaining romp"
    "Not Stephanie Plum"
What did you love best about The Heist?

I am an avid Janet Evanovich fan. I didn't know if I would like these new characters of hers, nor the fact that she was writing a book with someone else. I am happy to say I was worried for nothing. I love, love, love these new books and their characters. I love ongoing characters because I feel as though I know them and the things they've already done/achieved. I have heard them all, and am waiting with baited breath for a new book to come out. Evanovich and Goldberg, you're not writing quick enough, and keep up the great work and storylines.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Heist?

I just love all the characters involved. How they interact, etc.

  • Naked Heat

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 2 mins)
    • By Richard Castle
    • Narrated By Johnny Heller
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In the sequel to the New York Times bestselling Heat Wave, Richard Castle does it again with his thrilling new mystery. Tough, sexy, professional, NYPD Homicide Detective Nikki Heat carries a passion for justice as she leads one of New York City’s top homicide squads. In what’s sure to be another smash sensation, listeners will once again follow Nikki Heat and hotshot reporter Jameson Rook as they trade barbs and innuendos all while on the trail of a murderer!

    Blanche says: "enjoyable mystery"

I really enjoyed Naked Heat! However, it was really hard not to have Nathan Fillian(?)'s face, and (I'm sorry, I can't remember her name), the young female detective, on Castle)'s face. But, that was not a problem. :-) It was pleasurable listening, along with intrique, murder, and mystery. I really liked it. Can't wait for the author to do another.

  • The Morning Show Murders

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 21 mins)
    • By Al Roker, Dick Lochte
    • Narrated By Al Roker
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Network TV can be murder. Just ask Billy Blessing, famous for his smile, charm, and ability to survive the shark tank that is high-stakes morning TV. His career has just taken a very dangerous turn, however: his show's perky cohost, Gin McCauley, has launched into some brass-knuckles contract negotiations. And then the network's head honcho is murdered in his luxury apartment - and an ambitious D.A. decides that Billy is to blame.

Brenda says: "The Morning Show Murders"
    "Loved It"

Why is everyone always looking for the next great mystery. This book was, interesting, funny, regular day believables, and I really liked Mr. Roker reading it. I hope he does many more of the "Chef" character. Isn't there another book, he has written, with "Chef"?

  • Isle of Dogs

    • ABRIDGED (6 hrs and 12 mins)
    • By Patricia Cornwell
    • Narrated By Becky Ann Baker

Patricia Cornwell's novels of big-city police have taken this classic genre to a new level. "Move over, Carl Hiaasen, you've got company," the San Francisco Examiner warned. "Patricia Cornwell has switched to Hiaasen's world of black humor and nearly conquers it." USA Today concurred: "Cornwell has coined a new penny." With Isle of Dogs, Cornwell outdoes herself with a wry tale of life and turmoil behind the blue wall.

Woody says: "Unusual but quite funny"

Overall, I enjoy Andy Brazil and his accompanying characters. 'Isle of Dogs', really kept me in question and stitches, though a little confused. But remembering the fact that this is a book, and things being relative and all...
I must say that I liked it. :-) Enough so, that I will listen to it again.
