Summer 1924: On the eve of a glittering Society party, by the lake of a grand English country house, a young poet takes his life. The only witnesses, sisters Hannah and Emmeline Hartford, will never speak to each other again....Winter 1999: Grace Bradley, 98, one-time housemaid of Riverton Manor, is visited by a young director making a film about the poet's suicide. Ghosts awaken, and memories, long consigned to the dark reaches of Grace's mind, begin to sneak back through the cracks.

The House at Riverton was a great read. I wanted to know what came next but didn't want it to end. The author, Kate Morton, captured the times she was writing about. The characters were very well developed and the naration by Caroline Lee was right on.

It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

I had heard great things about this book ever since it came out. When I saw that ads for the movie, I thought I would listen to the book first, before deciding if I wanted to see the movie.

The book is awesome. Allan Corduner's reading is great. It is a moving book, not depressing. It isn't a typical "Holocaust book." It focuses on the lives of people in those times so you see the effect of Nazi Germany on the lives of the people in novel.

Having read the book, I will see the movie.

This book, number 13 in a series, was the first 1 I listened to. It was so good that I've gone back and started with the first book and am working my way forward.

The characters as well written. The story is action packed. I didn't want to stop listening.

The reader, George Guidall, was excellent. He even got the Hebrew names pronounced correctly.

I highly recommend this book and this series.

Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers is at a loss: The daughter of her friend Taymullah Azhar has been taken by her mother, and Barbara can't really help - Azhar had never married Angelina, and his name isn't on Hadiyyah's, their daughter's, birth certificate. He has no legal claim. Azhar and Barbara hire a private detective, but the trail goes cold. Azhar is just beginning to accept his soul-crushing loss when Angelina reappears with shocking news: Hadiyyah is missing, kidnapped from an Italian marketplace.

This was the first one of her books I've listened to, instead of read. I really enjoyed Davina Porter's reading. This book focused more on Sargent Havers then on Lynley and was still excellent. Sargent Havers really came into her own and I found myself cheering her on when she was right and cringing when she did some things. (I won't go into detail as I don't want to spoil any of the plot twists for those who haven't listened to it yet.

Elizabeth George is wonderful writer who really crafts how her books flow. I was afraid I would miss that in listening to the book, but that was not the case at all.

I love watching how relationships grow and develop within the book and over the whole series. I'm already looking forward for the next book.
