Single, 30-something, and working as a writer in New York City, Kristin Kimball was living life as an adventure. But she was beginning to feel a sense of longing for a family and for home. When she interviewed a dynamic young farmer, her world changed. Kristin knew nothing about growing vegetables, let alone raising pigs and cattle and driving horses. But on an impulse, smitten, if not yet in love, she shed her city self and moved to 500 acres near Lake Champlain to start a new farm with him.

    Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book. I loved her journey! I love the idea of needing to incorporate more physical work in your day! and how rewarding it is. I look at all of my daily chores differently and try to find the joy in them!
What they are doing is amazing, admirable, and inspirational.

Dan Savage has always had a loyal audience, thanks to his syndicated sex-advice column Savage Love but since the incredible global success of his It Gets Better project, his profile has skyrocketed. Savage is recognized as someone whose opinions about our culture, politics, and society should not only be listened to but taken seriously. Now, in American Savage, he writes on topics ranging from marriage, parenting, and the gay agenda to the Catholic Church, sex education, and the obesity epidemic.

Would you listen to American Savage again? Why?

No, but it was good the first time.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved when he moved on from his usual topic, to things of more substance.
He is so good at crafting a compelling argument! I loved the part of him having over for dinner, a person who so adamantly apposed his views to have the freedom to marry. I think it is so important to have dialogue! instead of being angry or mean to each other.

What about Dan Savage’s performance did you like?

I love when Authors read their books, it is so impactful to the story. Hearing the pauses and inflection at just the moment it is intended is so wonderful!

What made the experience of listening to Stories I Only Tell My Friends the most enjoyable?

I loved hearing all the behind the scenes of the "brat pack" this was all happening when I was growing up, young adult years, and so fun to look back and remember these movies, movie starts, and all that Rob went through.
His Narration is so fun, really adds to the book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Stories I Only Tell My Friends?

I can't pick just one. But I couldn't put the book down (or on pause) during the Outsiders chapters! I loved every minute! I got everyone around me hooked, including my husband and his cousin on a 3 hour drive!

After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, writer Kathleen Flinn returned with no idea what to do next, until one day at a supermarket she watched a woman loading her cart with ultraprocessed foods. Flinn's "chefternal" instinct kicked in: she persuaded the stranger to reload with fresh foods, offering her simple recipes for healthy, easy meals.

I enjoyed her gaining insight from each of her students and making me feel it is achiveable to be a better cook.
I was able to incorporate many of her tips into my cooking, and I have noticed (and so has my family) a great improvement in my cooking
