Things are finally looking up for defense attorney Mickey Haller. After two years of wrong turns, Haller is back in the courtroom. When Hollywood lawyer Jerry Vincent is murdered, Haller inherits his biggest case yet: the defense of Walter Elliott, a prominent studio executive accused of murdering his wife and her lover. But as Haller prepares for the case that could launch him into the big time, he learns that Vincent's killer may be coming for him next.

This was as good as "The Lincoln Lawyer" and "The Narrows". It teamed up Detective Harry Bosch and Lawyer Micky Haller together and even provided a wild twist at the end. This book was a page turner from the start. The courtroom action was gripping. My only desire would have been to fill in Bosch's detective character more. He seemed to be an enigma and that doesn't mesh with the Harry Bosch books I have read. All in all this was a fun ride (read) and I can't wait for his next book.

When our founding fathers secured the Constitutional “right of the people to keep and bear arms”, they also added the admonition that this right shall not be infringed. It is the only time this phrase appears in the Bill of Rights. So why aren’t more people listening? History has proven that guns are essential to self-defense and liberty - but tragedy is a powerful force and has led many to believe that guns are the enemy, that the Second Amendment is outdated, and that more restrictions or outright bans on firearms will somehow solve everything. They are wrong.

This book is jammed packed with data, sourced facts, studies, and case after case proving an armed citizenry is the best deterrent to crime. While the opposition to an armed citizenry, the highest expression of freedom known to man, has nothing on its side but emotion. For that matter, for the gun control advocates this will mean nothing.

Because many of these people are True Believing ideologues with a utopian vision, and as with ideologues and utopists truth never gets in their way. For the True Believer it is a moral imperative to reject objective facts, objective standards and objective logic, to declare objectivity itself impossible and undesirable. They exploit tragedies in order to further a political agenda and demonize good people who abide by the laws. So don't get this book thinking you will show them the data and they will see the light, because they won't.

Get the book to help you better understand what the real agenda behind gun control advocates.

  • Still the Best Hope: Why the World Needs American Values to Triumph

In this visionary book, Dennis Prager, one of America's most original thinkers, contends that humanity confronts a monumental choice. The world must decide between American values and its two oppositional alternatives: Islamism and European-style democratic socialism. Prager makes the case for the American value system as the most viable program ever devised to produce a good society. Those values are explained here more clearly and persuasively than ever before.

Would you consider the audio edition of Still the Best Hope to be better than the print version?

Due to the books significance in both content & research I purchsed the book after I listened to the audio. This book is reference material I will keep returning to.

What other book might you compare Still the Best Hope to and why?

Melanie Phillip's "A World Turned Upside Down." both books identify Islam & the Left as a religion and a threat to the survival of America and The West, however Melanie comes to the same conclusions from a different angle. She sees the Left's dogma as anti-enlightenment & she does not come to American values as the solution as does Dennis. Both books are outstanding & must reads in order to understand the great forces destroying Western values & The West.

If you could give Still the Best Hope a new subtitle, what would it be?

Why the West needs American values in order for liberty to prevail

    Any additional comments?

This book would have been perfect if Dennis read it himself.

John Robertson says: "What happened to Scott Brick?!!"
    "Great Sequal, vintage Corey"
    Overall

DeMille gets it just right. Fast action, laughter, edge of your seat suspense, great story line, and not PC (politically Correct) which is one of the reasons Corey is awesome. In this book John's humor seems to be rubbing off on Kate too, another delight. Finally, don't let me forget Scott Brick who is the perfect John Corey. Thanks for the great time.

But if I have my way, peaceful Eden, Indiana, is in for a major shake-up. It all began on my birthday, when I got drunk and disorderly all over Eden’s hunky new police chief (and my former high-school crush), Jack Reynolds...."

This was an awful book only to be surpassed by the worst narration I have ever heard. I waxed between hysterical laughter and revulsion.
The main characters' voices were Minnie Mouse and Guido from Jersey. No, really. There was a subplot that played into every stupid stereotype you have ever heard before.

    "One of Flynn's best"
    Overall

I have been a fan of Vince Flynn for a while, but this is one of his best books yet. At one point I couldn't put it down. I laughed, I had my heart strings pulled, I got angry and I cheered Rapp on to get the bad guys. I love a book that can get me emotionally invested in it and this is one of them. The Narrator was top notch too.

Sophie Katz's relationship with the irresistible and occasionally insufferable P.I. Anatoly Darinsky is on the fritz when a friend recruits Sophie's investigation skills to decode her possibly two-timing husband's strange behavior. When Sophie shows up in a short, red cocktail dress and her friend's hubby winds up dead, the loveable would-be sleuth can't help but take on the job.

TRACY says: "Not as engaging as previous books"
    "A Disappointment"
    Overall

Usually, Kyra Davis's books are a light, funny and entertaining read. Unfortunately, this book is nothing more than a trite political rant. It diminished the story content to a small minded political agenda. What a shame.
