Gavin Guile is the Prism, the most powerful man in the world. He is high priest and emperor, a man whose power, wit, and charm are all that preserves a tenuous peace. But Prisms never last, and Guile knows exactly how long he has left to live: Five years to achieve five impossible goals. But when Guile discovers he has a son, born in a far kingdom after the war that put him in power, he must decide how much he's willing to pay to protect a secret that could tear his world apart.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The book was fantastic, but I barely got through it because of the narrator. The second book was fantastic in every way.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

This narrator made the book nearly unbearable!!! I love Brent Weeks, and I loved this story, and I loved the second book... but the narrator was the worst thing I have ever born, and after my life that is saying something!

The narrator was bad because: Monotone; no or dumb pauses; surfer voice to the great and powerful protagonist, making him sound like an idiot; all-around awful.

Was The Black Prism worth the listening time?

Yes and no. Read it, don't listen to Mr. Jean reading this good story. I feel like he wanted the book to suffer.

    Any additional comments?

RE-RECORD THIS BOOK!!! PLEASE!!!! And someone get Chris Jean some lessons... maybe by Simon Vance, or Stefan Rudnicki.
