When Nicole Phillips agreed to hire a housekeeper, she pictured someone a little frumpy and almost certainly female. Instead, she gets gorgeous, unmistakably male Jake Colson. The man is proving indispensable in the kitchen - and everywhere else. Except Jake might not be a mortal man at all. Who wouldn't want to be a tall, dark, powerful vampire? Jake, for one. He's barely had time to adjust to his new state before he's roped into a family favor.

First let me say that I love Lynsay Sands and this whole series. I was, however, a bit disappointed by the slow movement of the first half of this book. I kept wanting the characters to get on with it already! The second half was much better and more up to Sand's standards and reputation. I'm still glad I read this book and cannot wait for more to come!

Steel is beyond irritated when he is maneuvered into ownership of a fragile human female. She’s not nearly big enough to handle his size or strength, yet she’s determined to get him into bed - into her. Steel realizes just what this little female is capable of when he awakens, chained to his bed, with her riding his very turned-on body. For a man who prides himself on his unyielding control, Steel soon finds Rena stripping him of it an inch at a time.

Let me begin by yelling out "I LOVE LAURANN DOHNER!" Amazing writer with loads of talent and imagination. I will read anything she writes just because I know her writing skills won't disappoint.

This being said, this series has been hard for me to grow comfortable with. Not sure why. At first I thought it was the half-cyborg thing that bothered me -- sex with machines is kind of creepy. After I thought about it I realized that, no, this wasn't what bothered me. I LOVE the New Species series almost to the point of infatuation, after all and they are half animal. I think what bothered me was the lack of open respect for women (human women in the book) and the callus way the cyborgs demand ownership and dominance of the women they capture. The books are well written, steamy, and the end relationships are loving but I think the part of me raised to be a strong, independent, and free woman is agitated by some of the more callously dominant moves. I'm all for strong, dominant male characters, but I like them to be more suave than callus. This is a personal preference and does not at all take away from Dohner's magic.

If you like SciFi romance then I'd suggest giving it a whirl. It's different and you may find you love it!

Ember Walsh is a trusting soul with the quiet beauty of her late mother, who perished in a mysterious car crash when Ember was three. A little tomboyish from being raised by her father, Ember packs a punch when a stranger gets pushy with her in a bar, catching the steely blue eyes of a tall, gorgeous tattooed man — Trace Montgomery. Still damaged from her last disastrous relationship and warned off the bad boy by friends, Ember fights the smoldering heat that Trace sparks in her when he begins shadowing her like a dark angel.

Fiore does a great job weaving a suspense-filled romance with lots of twists and turns. The story stays interesting and complex until the end. A few things: I understand the reasons why Trace's character needs to be a ruthless jerk at times -- the reasons he does what he does for the plot's sake. I also understand that Ember is the heroine who is written to rescue the broken Trace. I was, however, a little disappointed that she accepted the verbal slaps he dealt so easily and she ran back to him so readily. Perhaps he strength comes from her ability to forgive so openly, but seriously, Trace really REALLY deserved to be smacked for some of the stunts he pulled. The wonderful thing was that the story was so well written that I personally felt those verbal slaps Trace dealt. Perhaps this is why I was so offended when Ember ran back so easily.

Great story. Glad I added it to my library.

The narrator: She wasn't bad. She wasn't my favorite. Her narration will not prevent me from buying the next book if she narrates it (which she does), but I won't search out other books specifically because of her narration.

This was great story, but unfortunately the narrator was really distracting. I swear she didn't breathe! She read so quickly that in the beginning I checked my audible settings to make sure I didn't have it set to read at a faster rate. At times I couldn't tell which character was speaking because everything was so jumbled by the speed.

I think this book would benefit from a new narrator.

Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers. Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club's president. The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the men in her life are far more interested in keeping her daddy happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a handsome stranger - a man who isn't afraid to treat her like a real woman. One who isn't afraid of her father. His name is Liam, and he's The One. Or so she thinks.

I've seen mixed reviews about this read, but personally I think this is the best in the series so far! Lots of action, lots of ups and downs, and the chemistry between Hunter and Em is hot in a way that is innocent and carnal at the same time. The only thing I regret is that the story didn't allow for more interaction between past Reaper characters, ie. girls night out. Otherwise, it was funny, sexy, and interesting throughout. Can't wait for her next.

Once again, Day weaves a world of fantasy that never ceases to surprise and captivate. The concept of dream guardians and dimensional travel is well laid out and explained. I appreciate that Day kept this first book connected to it's main characters while also setting the stage for the series. Compared to some of her other works, this books isn't quite so blatantly erotic, but is still sexy and not for those easily scandalized. I guess, if you're reading in this genre then you should know this already.

The narration was okay, although the accents were a bit exaggerated at times and I would have chosen someone like Jill Redfield or Tavia Gilbert for a series like this one -- a series with a plethora of both male and female characters needing definite vocal distinction. With books like these, it's imperative that each character is easily distinguishable especially since the characters weave in and out of all the books -- connected in some way to each. Narration can easily make or break a series like this and for me, the decision to purchase the series as a whole had more to do with my appreciation for the author than because I felt that I just couldn't wait to listen.

After our introduction to Maddie and Sam in the first book of the series, I was hoping for more intense heat and flames regarding Sam and Maddie's reunion. The story and narration was great, just not as intense as I had hoped. I'm glad I read it and will most likely buy the next book in the series if there is one.

Midnight Man was an all-around good listen. The narration was well done and the plot was exciting and enticing. I liked how well-rounded each of the characters were and how Rice seemed to make this book sexy and carnal while also bringing some modern femininity to her females characters and protective dominance to her males. In a round about way (whether intentionally or unintentionally), Rice addresses the need women have to be both independent and self-sufficient, but also protected and cherished. This is an age-old emotional need which is why we are so complex -- haha!

Be prepared to commit to the series (3 books so far) because Rice ends each book rather abruptly, but addresses the hanging ends in the next....

Interior decorator Suzanne Barron's new tenant is the most dangerously sexy man she's ever met. Navy Commander John Huntington, a former SEAL (aka 'Midnight Man') works best under cover of darkness. Within hours of meeting him, Suzanne has wild, no-holds barred sex with John, then panics at the depth of her passionate response to such a powerful and dangerous warrior. Suzanne doesn't do sex like that. John is definitely someone she needs to avoid for her own peace of mind. But when killers come for her, Suzanne knows she can turn to only one man.

Lara Adrian breathes new life to the common vampire lore when she creates a new community/breed of vampires in her Midnight Breed Series. Although the communities are different, Adrian's writing style is very similar to JR Wards style in her series The Black Dagger Brotherhood. Similar premises and notions albeit very different story lines. Basically, if you enjoyed the BDB series, you'll like Adrian's Midnight Bread series also. I would say that Adrian's series is less illicit and more hardcore action/suspense.

The narration was good, although I noticed that Hillary Huber changed Savannah's accent from unaccented in the first book to seriously "southern" in this book. I don't mind because it ensures character distinction, but it was a bit unexpected.
