Faye Longchamp doesn't believe in ghosts. But she's an archaeologist - dead people are her life. While working in Rosebower, a rural New York town founded by spiritualists, Faye is surrounded by people who talk to the dead on a regular basis. When the most influential spiritualist in town, Tilda Armistead, invites Faye and her project assistant to commune with the dead, she can't say no. An hour later, her crystal ball shows Faye things no rational mind can explain. Tilda is dead.

I have listened to all of the books in the Faye Longchamp series. Each is better than the one before. The characters and plot are likeable and realistic. The plot flows at a good pace so you never get bored. I strongly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a little history mixed in with their mysteries.

In the second book of the Jocelyn O’Roarke series, New York’s most hated theater critic has been poisoned. Now the question is: Who isn't a suspect? A lot of people have good reason to despise Jason Saylin. He has earned a reputation as New York’s most scathing - and powerful - theater critic. After-parties at his penthouse apartment are the most exclusive in the city. But Jason has one weakness: an illness that he is desperate to hide. His illness is revealed in grandiose fashion when Jason staggers into a room during a party and falls dead on the floor.

In the first book of the Jocelyn O'Roarke series, when a Broadway show’s lead actress is murdered, her understudy must race to find the killer before it’s too late. Struggling actress Jocelyn "Josh" O’Roarke just got a real offer. Well, something resembling a real offer. Her old friend Austin Frost has written a play for Broadway and cast the glamorous Harriet Weldon as the lead. Not wishing to leave his old friend Josh behind, he has invited her to be Harriet’s understudy.

With her sort-of boyfriend Marcus calling it quits and her ex-boyfriend Andrew showing up out of the blue, Kathleen has more than enough drama to deal with - and that’s before a local theater festival relocates to Mayville Heights. Now the town is buzzing with theatre folk, and many of them have their own private dramas with the director, Hugh Davis. When Davis is found shot to death by the marina, he leaves behind evidence of blackmail and fraud, as well as an ensemble of suspects.

I enjoyed this book almost as much as I enjoed the first book. I felt that the main character wasn't as strong as she was in the first book. However, the mystery was good. I liked that her children played a bigger part in this book. However, I'm not a fan of the extended family and I'm not sure I will like the direction this book is heading.

Always one to stumble into trouble, Barb learns the hard way that a seemingly innocent yearbook scandal is actually part of a seriously sinister and deadly plot. Join soccer mom and movie lover Barbara Marr in this second laugh-out-loud, chaotic mystery, where high-profile crime and suburban living collide in an unexpected fashion.

Film lover Barbara Marr is a typical suburban mom living the typical suburban life in her sleepy little town of Rustic Woods, Virginia. Typical, that is until she sets out to find the missing link between a bizarre monkey sighting in her yard and the bone chilling middle-of-the-night fright fest at the strangely vacant house next door. When Barb talks her two friends into some seemingly innocent Charlie's Angels-like sleuthing, they stumble upon way more than they bargained for and uncover a piece of neighborhood history that certain people would kill to keep on the cutting room floor.

This is a quick and light cozy mystery. I laughed out loud a couple of times. It closely resembled a movie in which a famous governor starred in but that was okay. It helped pass the time while cleaning and doing errands.

Overall, this book is okay. The main character, Jill, isn't very bright and there are many times when I had to shake my head at her thoughtlessness. There is a very good supporting cast of characters and the mystery plot is actually very good. I would recommend this to anyone who likes light mysteries and a little romance.
