Jane's not happy. She's been packed off to England to fight in a war when she'd much rather be snogging Anyan. Unfortunately, Jane's enemies have been busy stirring up some major trouble - the kind that attracts a lot of attention. In other words, they're not making it easy for Jane to get any alone time with the barghest, or to indulge in her penchant for stinky cheese. Praying she can pull off a Joan of Arc without the whole martyrdom thing, Jane must lead Alfar and halflings alike in a desperate battle.

During her years spent in New York City, Faith Fairchild was convinced she had seen pretty much everything. But the transplanted caterer/minister's wife was unprepared for the surprises awaiting her in the sleepy Massachusetts village of Aleford. And she is especially taken aback by the dead body of a pretty young thing she discovers stashed in the church's belfry.

As owner of Coffee, Books, and More, Jill Gardner looks forward to the hustle and bustle of holiday shoppers. But when the mayor ropes her into being the liaison for a new work program, 'tis the season to be wary. Local businesses are afraid that the interns will be delinquents, punks, or worse. For Jill, nothing's worse than Ted Hendricks - the jerk who runs the program. After a few run-ins, Jill's ready to kill the guy. That, however, turns out to be unnecessary when she finds Ted in his car - dead as a doornail.

I think the narrator ruined this for me. From the beginning I was distracted by the narrator's voice. She made the lead character, Faith, sound as old as her grandmothers. However, the narrator can not be blamed for creating a lead character that was annoying and flat. Her involvement in the "investigation" was forced and beyond the scope of her disabilities. As an ex JAG administer, she should have had some scruples. Faith had none. It was just a bad book.

It has been a tough road thus far for the audacious Jocelyn "Josh" O'Roarke. Every time she feels like she's moving up in the theater world, her life is derailed by a murder. Now, she is about to make her big move with her directorial debut Off-Broadway. Even better, it's a revival of Major Barbara - a surefire hit. It seems nothing could go wrong - until stage veteran Burton Evans collapses on stage during a preview, apparently from a heart attack.

I like this series despite the cat obsession. However, Leann Sweeney went to far this time with a ghost cat. This story doesn't need the supernatural mixed in to make it interesting. Other than that the story was pretty good. There was enough character development to make me want to read the next book.

In the second book of the Jocelyn O’Roarke series, New York’s most hated theater critic has been poisoned. Now the question is: Who isn't a suspect? A lot of people have good reason to despise Jason Saylin. He has earned a reputation as New York’s most scathing - and powerful - theater critic. After-parties at his penthouse apartment are the most exclusive in the city. But Jason has one weakness: an illness that he is desperate to hide. His illness is revealed in grandiose fashion when Jason staggers into a room during a party and falls dead on the floor.
