What disappointed you about Fifty Shades of Grey?

Story is extremely slow with about the only plot being sex. Unless you are into listening to that I don't think this is the book for you. Very disappointed.

Would you ever listen to anything by E. L. James again?

    probably not

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    Narrator was okay.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fifty Shades of Grey?

    no comment

What disappointed you about The 6th Target?

This story was so predictable and just did not have the twists and turns that make you unsure that you know what is going to happen or who did it. I was very disappointed in it.

Has The 6th Target turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, My interests are drama, mystery and thrillers.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The performance was fine. If the reader hadn't been interesting I would have pulled the plug on it way sooner.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Just did not seem up to James Patterson's writing.

The bizarre murder of a parish priest at a New York bondage club opens Nikki Heat's most thrilling and dangerous case so far, pitting her against New York's most vicious drug lord, an arrogant CIA contractor, and a shadowy death squad out to gun her down. And that is just the tip of an iceberg that leads to a dark conspiracy reaching all the way to the highest level of the NYPD.

What disappointed you about Heat Rises?

I tried to listen to this and just had to give up. The narrator did not change his voice from one character to another. Having a man narrate this was a mistake. Nikki Heat is of course a girl and her part not being read by a woman ruined this book. I only finished one chapter and quit trying to get into it. At least they should have had a woman narrate the Nikki Heat part and then maybe it would have been worth listening to. Very disappointed.

What could Richard Castle have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

He should have had a woman narrate the Nikki Heat part.

What didn’t you like about Johnny Heller’s performance?

He did not hold my interest and never changed up his voice.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Did not finish it so I don't know.

  • The Black Echo: Harry Bosch Series, Book 1

For LAPD homicide cop Harry Bosch - hero, maverick, nighthawk - the body in the drainpipe at Mulholland Dam is more than another anonymous statistic. This one is personal. The dead man, Billy Meadows, was a fellow Vietnam "tunnel rat" who fought side by side with him in a nightmare underground war that brought them to the depths of hell.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If they had a woman reading the lady character. A man read both and his woman voice was like a mans.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Another mystery

What didn’t you like about Dick Hill’s performance?

I found myselt drifting off all the time and not hearing what he was saying.

What character would you cut from The Black Echo: Harry Bosch Series, Book 1?

I am not sure that cutting a character would have helped this book. This book had way too much description and what I would call totally not interesting garble just to make a chapter. I kept waiting for some twists an turns and kept waiting for some clues. I did not enjoy this book at all. I thought it was terribly boring.

    Any additional comments?

I would not read anything from this author again.
