Mac McQuarry knew better than to mix women and work. And he had enough trouble of his own: The disgraced former cop had been demoted after an explosive shakedown of the Charleston police department. But when Julie Carlson hires him to spy on her cheating husband, Mac can't resist. Not only is she drop-dead gorgeous, but her husband was a player in Mac's inglorious downfall. But what begins as a run-of-the-mill assignment spiced by a fiery flirtation suddenly spirals into a harrowing race for survival.

Would you listen to To Trust a Stranger again? Why?

Yes. I love the story and love the way Karen Robards writes.

What did you like best about this story?

    The plot and the romance.

What three words best describe Laura Hicks’s voice?

    terrible southern accent

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The climax of the story was riveting and so well written.

    Any additional comments?

Ms Hicks has a beautiful voice but she should stay away from southern accents. The character voices were inconsistent and sometimes confusing as to which character was speaking. The southern belle character sounded more ethnic than southern. The character in Drag sounded stupid and the African Americans accents were ridiculous.

"Of all of my novels, After the Night remains one of my personal favorites – and Faith Devlin and Gray Rouillard are two of my favorite characters. Faith is strong, proud, and fearless, and Gray – well, he’s just downright sexy. Faith’s search for the truth about the devastating scandal surrounding her mother and Gray’s father blazes with intrigue. Add some sultry Southern hear, and you’ve got a real scorcher of a listen." Would you listen to After the Night again? Why?

Yes. I have already listened to it several times. It is a very exciting and entertaining story and Ms. Ross is easy to listen to. The plot has it all: romance, sex, mystery, difficult family relationships. the rich and the poor, a riveting climax.

What other book might you compare After the Night to and why?

Kiss Me While I Sleep. Linda Howard is a great story teller. I can't get enough of her books.

Have you listened to any of Natalie Ross’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't believe I have listened to Natalie's performance before but she has a wonderful voice. Unlike so many other readers, she was able to pull off the southern accents without driving me crazy (I am from the south)!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes. I was very moved by the scene where the Devlin family was humiliated by being thrown out of their home in the most degrading manner.

    Any additional comments?

Both the leads, Gray and Faith, are very likable and believable characters and I loved their story!
