  • A Clash of Kings: A Song of Ice and Fire, Book 2

    • UNABRIDGED (37 hrs and 18 mins)
    • By George R. R. Martin
    • Narrated By Roy Dotrice
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

A comet the color of blood and flame cuts across the sky. And from the ancient citadel of Dragonstone to the forbidding shores of Winterfell, chaos reigns. Six factions struggle for control of a divided land and the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, preparing to stake their claims through tempest, turmoil, and war.

Alisha says: "Good listen, but what's up with the chapter set up"
"Well read and love the voice changes!!"

When I read the Game of Thrones books I tended to daze off which is why I purchased the audiobooks. Roy Dotrice is an excellent reader and keeps the stories well paced and lively.
Anyone wanting to compare the voices to the show will be disappointed, but the books are so well read, you'll lose yourself easily.
    Most enjoyable listens!!!

  • Equal Rites: Discworld #3

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 43 mins)
    • By Terry Pratchett
    • Narrated By Celia Imrie

Lisa L. Hilton says: "Lots of fun"
    "Recording quality is terrible!"

This story is great, however, the white noise in the background is distracting and very annoying. Read the books if you can get them in the States rather than waste a credit on terrible audio quality!

  • The Historian

    • UNABRIDGED (26 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By Elizabeth Kostova
    • Narrated By Justine Eyre, Paul Michael
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Late one night, exploring her father's library, a young woman finds an ancient book and a cache of yellowing letters. The letters are all addressed to "My dear and unfortunate successor", and they plunge her into a world she never dreamed of: a labyrinth where the secrets of her father's past and her mother's mysterious fate connect to an inconceivable evil hidden in the depths of history.

    Branden says: "Phenomenallly detailed..."
    "can't stop listening even at 2 a.m."

This book held me spellbound for hours every day that I listened to it. I was skeptical of all the
"vampire-hype" books- but this was a gorgeous aural surprise.
Characters were so well written and the journey of the book was truly gripping and well written!
Highly recommended by a friend- I will always heed her recommendations.

  • The Name of This Book Is Secret

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Pseudonymous Bosch
    • Narrated By David Pittu
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

"If this were a normal descriptions for a normal audiobook, I would tell you that this audiobook is fantastic! Gripping! (According to their blurbs, all books are fantastic and gripping.) You'd meet the brave young heroes, Cass and Max Ernest. And you'd hear about how a mysterious box of vials, the symphony of smells, sends them on the trail of a magician who has vanished under strange (and Stinky) circumstances."

Anne says: "Where are books 2 and 4?"
"a well loved book about secrets"

My son LOVES this book! he has listened to this book multiple times and has never tired of it.
he read the book alongside and enjoys the mystery and closeness of cass and max earnest. the story is exceptionally well paced and written. we look forward to the narrator's next project of if you're reading this its too late.
a quality recording with inflections and emotions.

  • The Phantom of the Opera

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By Gaston Leroux
    • Narrated By Ralph Cosham
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The story begins with an investigation into some strange reports of an "opera ghost", legendary for making the great Paris opera performers ill-at-ease when they sit alone in their dressing rooms. Some allege to have seen the ghost in evening clothes moving about in the shadows. Nothing is done, however, until the disappearance of Christine during her triumphant performance.

Sarah says: "Book better than the movie"
    "spellbindingly beautiful & memorable"

This was an absolutely enthralling audiobook! I have listened to it more than once just to be swept away to the lower depths of the opera. I would recommend this to anyone who loves mystery, romance, redemption, and most of all emotive responses to love. Give it a try- you will not be disappointed!

  • Inkheart

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Cornelia Funke
    • Narrated By Lynn Redgrave

Imagine it were possible to bring the characters from a book to life. Not like when you listen to an audiobook with such enchantment that the characters seem to jump off the pages and into your bedroom...but for real. Imagine they could actually climb out of the pages and into our world. Then imagine if those characters brought their world into ours.

    Cynthia Lee Reneau says: "EXCELLENT!!"
    "narration is very engaging"

my son loves to listen to audiobooks while he's reading the book alongside. lynn redgrave's narration is diverse and consistent.
the book is very easily slipped into and you are lured into the sequels. funke has poetry that is missing from the original german
versions into english, too bad as it lends more to the feel of the story. is it just me me or is the word 'incredulous' overused?
no matter, this book is well read and will be well loved.

  • The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Dramatised)

    • ORIGINAL (4 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By J. R. R Tolkien
    • Narrated By Ian Holm, Michael Hordern, Robert Stephens

A BBC radio full-cast dramatisation of the first book in JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. Brian Sibley's famous 1981 adaptation, starring Ian Holm and Michael Hordern, has been divided into three corresponding parts, with newly recorded beginning and end narration by Ian Holm.

    Erin says: "Dramitization"
    "great for kids!!"

I always found tolkien to be a bit hard for kids to grasp. my son, now 8, loves this audio version! its very enjoyable and loses none of the tolkien magic. adults will have a hard time stopping listening as it is very mesmerising and well done.
