Carrie Slayton, a big-city society-page columnist, longs to write more serious news stories. So her editor hands her a challenge: She can cover any topic she wants, but only if she first scores the paper an interview with Finn Dalton, the notoriously reclusive author. Living in the remote Alaskan wilderness, Finn has written a mega best-selling memoir about surviving in the wild. But he stubbornly declines to speak to anyone in the press, and no one even knows exactly where he lives. Digging deep into Finn's past, Carrie develops a theory on his whereabouts.

This a good book....all around feel good story; predictable in places but light easy reading that helped make my commute bearable.
If you need a break from heavier things; reading, work, life - this is your book; restored my faith that there is still a place for simple, good love stories. Ahhhhhh

As a child, Morgan Edwards marveled at the faery tales spun by her beloved grandmother, stories of the magical beings hidden in the heart of ancient Wales. But now Morgan is all grown up, a veterinarian who believes only in what science can prove - until the night a massive black dog saves her from a vicious attack. Suddenly a stranger stands before her, the man of her dreams made flesh and blood, not by science, but by a magic that could bring them their hearts’ desires...or cost them everything they have.

    Story

Storm Warrior was good but missed great by quite a bit. There were too many plots going on simultaneously.....the steamy sex scenes seemed as though they belonged to another book. The Highland Warrior from 2000 years ago wasn't plausible - even the central character didn't buy it.....she ended up seeming shallow and sappy - how did she make it through Vet school? The magic was good - the final conflict was well done.
If you want Highland Warrior - read The Secret and if you want Fae read the Fairwick Trilogy......
Not moved enough to invest in the sequel.......

From the locked archives of the Vatican to the overgrown jungles of Ethiopia, an unlikely trio begins a deadly search for the Holy Grail. Two journalists and a beautiful photographer are traveling together in a broken down Jeep while covering the 1975 Ethiopian civil war. Both men fall in love with the woman and that complicates things. When the trio winds up lost in the jungle, in the no man's land between the fighting factions, they take cover and dig in for the night. In their hiding place, they encounter a dying man who tells them an amazing and quite unbelievable story. But for some reason - one that they grapple with for the rest of their journey - that night they believe.

This was definitely worth the journey! A bit slow getting started and nearly bailed an hour in but in the end I was glad I hadn't given it up.
I understand that this title has been completely rewritten and the Author explains at the end why he was moved to do so. Hearing about what he changed - it sounds as though these were needed improvements. It was entertaining and the character Purcell was so dry....there were parts that were laugh out loud funny......."right....." A twisted love triangle helped keep it well balanced. Some parts dragged a bit -- their travels through Rome and the parts about the Vatican were great - the political climate he described in Ethiopia was interesting to say the least. Overall well worth the credit!

Virginity. Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible - a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half a brain would ever believe. And as if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theater professor....

This held promise for a great book and the story line had so much potential.... It was good, but fell way short of great - just a little too young adult and a little too school girlish.....
The narration was very good -- Bliss as herself and the Brit accent for Garrick was also very good.
The story as is would make for a better movie than a book.
Faking It - the next in the series - got much better reviews...but reluctant to use the credit given the lukewarm experience of this audiobook......

Macbeth: A Novel brings the intricacy and grit of the historical thriller to Shakespeare’s tale of political intrigue, treachery, and murder. In this full-length novel written exclusively for audio, authors A. J. Hartley and David Hewson rethink literature’s most infamous married couple, grounding them in a medieval Scotland whose military and political upheavals are as stark and dramatic as the landscape in which they are played.

I loved, loved, loved this book. I am admittedly a Shakespeare fan and have always loved Macbeth. This story is excellent and the narration is perfect. Macbeth's character fleshes out perfectly as does Lady Macbeth and the witches - OH THE WITCHES - are so perfectly dark and sinister.
I have recommended this to friends who are Shakespeare fans and non Shakespeare fans alike for the story and narration. The epilogue at the end of how the story was developed and the authors' intent in writing the way they did was excellent. More please!!
Thank you for an audiobook I thoroughly enjoyed and will listen to again and again!

In Boundaries for Leaders, Dr. Henry Cloud gives leaders the tools and techniques they need to achieve the performance they desire - in their organizations and in themselves. Drawing on the latest findings from neuroscience, Dr. Cloud shows why it's critical for leaders to set the conditions that make people's brains perform at their highest levels. How do great leaders do this? One way is through the creation of "boundaries" - structures that determine what will exist and what will not.

I have many business books but not many fall into the category of outstanding. Truly a prescription for a successful leader. I lead leaders and will most definitely use this in my work. I have quoted extensively - my favorite part is when people get into a negativity spin they exhibit this with 3 "P's" over time; first they take it personal; then it becomes pervasive; and finally it becomes permanent. This helped me see a struggle with one of my leaders in a very clear way.
I purchased this in hardcover so as to have it as a reference and have recommended it to many already.
I see there is a workbook and also other titles by Dr. Cloud - I am sure I will be investigating these too.

This was a good book - not great but good. The narration by Cassandra Campbell made it and the charm of the Italian aunts and New York home were very good; also the beach home was great too.
The sick boyfriend was really sick and there were parts that were tied up in family history that took a long time to uncover - lots of detail that was sometimes critical to the story but easy to miss. Felt like a long time waiting for things to happen in this book and not always sure where it was headed, but lacking true suspense.
I had this in my wish list for a long time and I'm glad I finally read it. A decent read though not sure I would recommend.....

Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud and loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. But there was another reason for the journey from her bleak English home to the Highlands: to meet the father she had never known, the Laird Maclean. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling than any she had ever encountered.

This story was excellent AND the narrator was also wonderful! (I am so glad I didn't let the poor reviews of this narrator dissuade me!!)
An absorbing historical romance with charming characters -- I loved this book and did not want it to end!! So sad to see that Audible doesn't have Ransom - the next in the series (hint, hint!)
The narrator does whisper and like another reviewer said the dialogue between Judith and Ian is outstanding -- pillow talk really and so seductive..... The whispers of the elders only added to the charm of these Scottish Warrior leaders.
    More please......

This book was awesome! Great plot and very well developed characters. I never really thought about how a volcaic erruption would progress, but the author did a fantastic job of describing the impact through the various stages of devastation; the effect makes it impossible to stop listening!! The Aquarius as the central character having an engineering background investigating the interruption of the water supply works really well. The love interest is a great addition and also the fates of the various characters is very well done. The narration was perfect.
Excellent read and very well spent credit!
