It's enough already with the whining of the main character. I enjoyed the first book, pretty unique premise and was well done. The second book is just basically a rehash and repeat of the first, I felt a little cheated. Don't think I'll try the last one, at this point don't really care what happens to the main character (or any one else in the story).
The horror in this story was kind of subtle and I thought well done. Not overly gory (altho I can appreciate a nice gory book!), but more thoughtful, than outright scary. I thought the characters were pretty good, if a little shallow, but overall a good read
Story started out pretty good, interesting premise, but couldn't get past the ridiculous dialog and the story went downhill fast. Couldn't even finish it, but struggled thru most. Narration was ok, better than the story anyway.
Holy cow, I can't get through 2 chapters of this sappy story. Its a bad romance novel disguised as a thriller, don't waste a credit on this one, wish I hadn't. The narrater is really annoying, I don't think he's able to get the right modulation for the story.
I understand this is Peter Brett's first novel, had never heard of the guy and I'm not generally a fantasy reader, but this was a GREAT book. Really great first effort, in depth character development, lots of action, lots of fun, and lots of imagination.
I'm finally done with Straub, his books have just gotten worse, not better, this one I couldn't even finish. Unfortunately the narration for this one was mediocre so didn't help, but the story is relentlessly boring.
I'm a big King fan and am always looking forward to the next book. Unfortunately I knew where this one was going after the frst chapter. This book could have probably been about 500 pages shorter. An author always telescopes the plot when they make their characters all good or all bad as was the case here. Also, I agree with other reviews, the ending was a little disappointing and a bit childish (no pun intended for those that have read the book). Kudos to the narrator, nice job.
This one isn't worth 1 credit, forget 2. I wouldn't even call the stories Poe's stepchildren, no relation to Poe's quality of writing at all. Mark this one a miss...
I loved this audiobook! Brilliant story, excellent narration, and completely original. I've read a few of the author's other books, which are always great, but this one is the best.
An amazing story, even better than his first book. I couldn't stop listening. Sadly inspiring, but be prepared, it will make you cry. Kudos to the narrator, a pleasure to listen to.
