Corey says: "Everything you need to know."
    "My Muscle Bible"

This was my first book of Mike's that I bought, and it's truly paid for itself multiple times over and over. I'll get to that in a moment.
If you're looking for a no-nonsense, motivating, inspiring book to help you quickly achieve your fitness goals, you've found it. I purchased the Audible version because I like to listen to books as I'm driving and/or mowing the lawn. I like to keep fit and healthy, and I'm always looking to pack on more muscle. One day before mowing the lawn, I searched for a new book to listen to while I was working outside. I'm glad I stumbled across this one.
As far as this book actually saving me money, his chapter on supplements is worth the cover price alone. If you're like me, you fell victim to supplement scams for years. Trying every hot new product, even though most of it wasn't backed up by any true science at all. Worst, these "new" prodcuts cost a fortune. Mike cuts through all the b.s. and lays it out straight. What works, what doesn't. What you need, what to skip. So I'm done wasting money on unproven products. Thanks so much Mike. This truly is my "Muscle Bible."

  • Muscle Myths: 50 Health & Fitness Mistakes You Don't Know You're Making: Build Healthy Muscle

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 6 mins)
    • By Michael Matthews
    • Narrated By Jeff Justus
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Muscle Myths was written to debunk the most commonplace and harmful gimmicks, fads, myths, and misinformation in the health and fitness industry. With the information in this book, you can save the money, time, and frustration of buying into misleading diet plans and products that promise unattainable results. You can become your own personal trainer and start getting real results with your diet and exercise.

Roy says: "Decent material, but the reader sounds like a punk"
    "My encyclopedia of MUSCLE"

This is the 2nd book I've bought by Mike Matthews. I also bought Bigger Leaner Stronger, and bought both of them on Audible so I could listen as I workout, mow the lawn, or drive in the car. I was such a huge fan of Bigger Leaner Stronger, I had to get another of his books.
Much of the information is the same here, but not all of it. I definitely learned things in the book that weren't covered in Bigger Leaner Stronger. What I like best about this book is the way it is organized into the 50 myths, and they are broken down into cardio myths, muscle myths, nutrition myths, etc. So it's easy to reference a certain section for review. That is why I call this my Encyclopedia of Muscle. A truly great reference. Had I read this in college, I'd probably look as good as Mike does now (maybe). Thanks Mike.

  • The Long Run: One Man's Attempt to Regain his Athletic Career-and His Life - by Running the New York City Marathon

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Matthew Long, Charles Butler
    • Narrated By Matthew Del Negro
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

On the morning of December 22, 2005, New York City firefighter Matt Long was cycling to work when he was struck by and sucked under a 20-ton bus making an illegal turn. The injuries he sustained pushed him within inches of death. Miraculously, after five months in the hospital and more than 40 operations, Matt was able to start his recovery. This book chronicles Matt's road to recovery as he teaches himself to walk again and, a mere three years later, to run in the 2008 New York City Marathon.

Sarah says: "Only 1/2 way through and loving it"
"Most inspirational book I've ever read. Period."
Would you consider the audio edition of The Long Run to be better than the print version?

I thought Matthew Del Negro was an excellent narrator. In fact, I'd say he was absolutely perfect to read this story, accent and all. This was one of the times, listening was more powerful than reading.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Matt new hero.

What about Matthew Del Negro’s performance did you like?

Next to Scott Brick, Del Negro is my favorite narrator. His voice is very natural. You never felt he was reading, but telling the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh and cry. Moments of great sadness, and moments of overwhelming joy.

    Any additional comments?

Everybody who thinks they can't, they're too old, too overweight, too injured, to sick...etc. to push yourself and get healthy needs this book. They NEED this book.
