Mirren Kincaid remembers the vampire he used to be - and he’s not going back. As the Slayer, Mirren served the Vampire Tribunal as its most creative and ruthless executioner. Then he refused a kill order and eventually found himself the protector and second-in-command of the peaceful enclave of Penton, Alabama. As civil war threatens to break out in the vampire world over the scarcity of untainted human blood, the Tribunal wants its slayer back - and has sent a beautiful witch to retrieve him.

I am so glad that Susannah stepped up the story telling with Mirren Kincaid's story. He is truly masculine, tough as nails, yet tender. I don't know exactly how I feel about Glory's character. For the most part, I found her annoying due to that awful narration and supposedly southern drawl. While I thought she was a little sweet, I just couldn't look past this narrator.

Ok so lets get back to the narration. All of the guys sounded awful like female children. Will sounded like a whiny brat and Aiden's voice just made him sound even weaker than he appears to be from the story. And Randa's voice is cringe worthy. Amy tried and failed with that whole southern accent. My goodness, I wish they would just tell her the truth!!!!! I have not downloaded book 3 but I refuse to if I have to listen to the same narrator. Geesh did they not screen her or what?

Was the story good? Yes. But this narration just about slayed the novel. Sighing....but then again, some people seem to love it. I'm just saying, try to wait until it is more on sale than the price it already is.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Possibly someone who has never read/heard the amazing writing that is Ilona Andrews. I think someone who is just getting their feet wet in the Fantasy genre could start here.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I am currently listening to Desire's Prize by M. S. Laurens. This isn't an author I have ever read before but I got in on a sale and am hoping I get pleasantly surprised.

What aspect of Renee Raudman’s performance would you have changed?

I have to first give the disclaimer that Renee Raudman is my favorite narrator but I have to be honest. Just like another reviewer said, she was not spot on with her performance this time. Her voices were not consistent. There was one time that Nevada sounded like Adam Pierce and I had to rewind cause I found it odd that Adam would be having the conversation. Also, some of the voices drove me crazy. Early on Adam sounded masculine at least, but towards the end he sounded like a whiny 11 year old.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Honestly I was sad and disappointed, especially because I pre-ordered this with keen anticipation. Ilona Andrews is my favorite author and I was expecting so much more. This book is definitely NOT a romance novel. I had a hard time understanding when the romance supposedly started. It just seemed to be all about Rogan's hotness, arrogance and crassness. Nevada appeared to be strong originally but then just let Rogan's looks completely distract her. It just seemed like she was in lust with him and I didn't feel that the affection or relationship was built up well.

    Any additional comments?

This book does not sound original to the author at all. It seems like they tried to step outside of their urban fantasy genre into romance but did not land soundly. This book let me down. But please do not let this one work throw you off of this author. The Kate Daniels series is totally amazing, and I understand that may be a hard thing to beat.

Obviously from the rating you can tell how much I enjoyed this book. Everything was spot on from the narration to the characters to the story. This is definitely a romance novel, but one where the main characters had some pretty decent flaws-no matter how beautiful and perfect they both looked on the outside. The cover picture does not do the book justice, as it indicates more of a trashy type chic lit/erotica book which this book is definitely not.

I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase and am currently on the prowl for more books by Kim Law with Natalie Ross narrating. Need I say more? Go buy it!

I really really enjoyed listening to this book. First off, lets talk about the narration. Traci Odom did a great job and I can't wait to listen to more from her. The book had somewhat of a new take on the whole vampire thing and it was pretty action packed. For those of you who dislike sappy love stories, this one is definitely for you. While there may be a love interest, it is not the primary focus of this story.

All in all, I would not hesitate to buy this book regardless if it is on sale or not.

This was a good book, but not as good as Ilona Andrews normally writes...in my very humble opinion. I am a huge fan of the Kate Daniels series so I was expecting something as good as that series, but this one just isn't it. Even with that being said, please do not misunderstand me thinking this was not a good book, because it is. However, for the first time every I found myself a little disappointed in Renee Raudman. For some strange reason the character was supposed to be in her early 20's but she sounded like she was in her late 70's. Also, there was a bit of overacting that drove me crazy!!!! (P.S. I'm sorry Renee cause I really love your narration normally).

Ok so enough of the negatives, lets talk about the good. There were really funny moments that I wasn't expecting that I found myself literally laughing out loud to. I also liked the little romance aspect and the two guys competing for the main character.

All in all, I would still recommend this book. But I would say if you have never read an Ilona Andrews novel, please do not be turned off by this review or this book. This is a pretty interesting writing team that writes some of the most intriguing stories.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! This book is amazing and I have no problem recommending it to anyone who likes a bit of action, adventure, and mystery!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Well its a mix of Atticus and Oberan. Atticus's adaptation to the current times was pretty cool, but I loved the humor of both of their characters.

Which character – as performed by Luke Daniels – was your favorite?

Oberan (once again spell check lol). He did such a good job that there were moments I found myself laughing!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Of course..but then of course I couldn't really do that because of that little thing called responsibility lol.

    Any additional comments?

I must honestly say I bought the book on a sale and truly delayed in reading it by like 6 months. I am so glad I finally took the time out to listen and it was such a pleasant surprise. There is no syrupy love story in here, just pure...idk awesomeness??? It was a good read and I look forward to listening to book 2...so obviously I don't need to say this but..buy the book because it is definitely worth it!

Where does The Unwanted Wife rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is up there. Not in the top 10 but it definitely scored high.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sandro. He was very masculine, honest, and focused on achieving his goals. I thought the steps he took to get to where he needed to be were quite admirable and I just love honest, masculine men, so there you have it.

What does Justine Eyre bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She did a great job with the accent and the male parts. I think she is very talented and really made the book feel authentic and flow smoothly.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Hmmm good question...maybe something like "Fighting against it, only makes you fall harder for it"..not my best work, but hey its late and I'm sleepy.

    Any additional comments?

I thought this was a really good deal. I really enjoyed listening to it. I found it very relaxing and for the price of this book you can't beat it. I highly recommend it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Gentle Rain?

Probably when everyone learned the truth about "Karen."

Have you listened to any of Suzy Harbulak’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not but I like her perspective on things. I like that she made people with disabilities a big part of her story and showed how beautiful they are too. It was quite touching and very sweet.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was but it definitely took some getting used to. This is primarily because of the crude language. And I mean I cuss all of the time but there were a few things that had me looking at my Iphone with the side eye. I mean I had to go back and read the summary again like am I listening to porn or what? lol

If you’ve listened to books by Tina Folsom before, how does this one compare?

    I have not.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Um yeah. Kevin Foley didn't miss a beat.

Could you see Samson's Lovely Mortal being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Well if it was a tv series I'm not sure what channel it would be on....well probably HBO. It was a good question of who the stars would be but I can't think of any at the moment.

    Any additional comments?

Well it wasn't my favorite. It was a decent read but I can only recommend this if it is on sale.

No, not with a good conscious.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    It was pretty predictable.

What aspect of Elle Newlands’s performance would you have changed?

She did great with the accents but she sounded awful in the male voices. Cameron sounded very, very strange.

No. I don't think it should be so I can't even think that far.

I have read books one and two and I am just not into this series. Guess I don't see what the hype is all about because this seems more geared towards teenagers.
