  • The Darkling Thrush

    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By Josh Lanyon
    • Narrated By Max Miller

Fed up with his desk duty in the Imperial Arcane Library, book hunter Colin Bliss accepts a private commission to find The Sword's Shadow, a legendary and dangerous witches' grimoire. But to find the book, Colin must travel to the remote Western Isles and solve a centuries' old murder.

Tony Squared says: "A Magical Story"
    "Terrible headache inducing narration."
What disappointed you about The Darkling Thrush?

I tried to read the book once and didn't find it very engaging, so I thought I'd manage better with it being reading to me. No such luck. I couldn't get over the first five minutes of the recording. I wish I listened to sample before buying.

    • By Nick Nolan
    • Narrated By Luke Daniels
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Closeted teenager Jeremy is sent to live with wealthy relatives after his mother enters rehab. Struggling to fit into the posh world of Ballena Beach, Jeremy joins the high school swim team, dates a popular girl, and begins to think he may have landed in paradise - until his great aunt Katharine starts to dictate his every move…and a late-night phone call insinuates that his father’s accidental death was not so accidental after all. As Jeremy grows accustomed to the veneer of a fabulous life, so grows his need for answers - as well as the danger of immeasurable harm.

    Riva says: "A surprising treat!"
"Badly written, banal and boring. Didn't finish."
What would have made Strings Attached better?

    Nothing I could think about

Would you ever listen to anything by Nick Nolan again?

What about Luke Daniels’s performance did you like?

    It was all right

What character would you cut from Strings Attached?

They all should be edited heavily

    Any additional comments?

I hope I can return the book

  • His for the Holidays

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 17 mins)
    • By Josh Lanyon, Z. A. Maxfield, L. B. Gregg, and others
    • Narrated By Alec McKellen, Max Tatch, Max Bellmore, and others

Hope brightens a bleak Edinburgh December. A man gets a second chance with his high school crush. A decade-long game of cat and mouse comes to a passionate conclusion. And Santa Claus drives a red muscle car. Heat up your holidays with this collection of four festive tales from some of the top talent in the male/male genre.

Donald says: "A Great Holiday Treat..."
    "2 of 4"

"Mistletoe at Midnight" was just barely Ok, it sort of lacked point. --

"Nine Lights over Edinburgh". Plain bad. Annoying narration matched equally annoying story. Unhuman amounts of schmaltz. Skipped some parts toward the end. --

"I Heard Him Exclaim". Real good and cute one. Great narration. --

"Icecapade". Best among the stories even though Robert sounded a bit off inho. --

All in all, a good buy since stories #2 and 3 make up for #1 and 2
