I love these characters as if I actually knew them. Can't wait for the next installment.
The first book was engaging, the second book was disappointing, but tolerable because it appeared to be a set-up for this book. This book is terrible.
The performance is done like a 70s-era soap opera, which pretty much matches the tenor of the book. The book feels like it is drawn out for the sake of meeting some predetermined page limit.
I have read several of Phillipa Gregory's books and have enjoyed them. This one was just too long and it was just the same thing over and over again.
I took a "chance" on this book on a recommendation. I can't believe I've never read it. Wonderful characters, story, performance.
I cannot understand why this book is so popular. It just goes on-and-on. I'm not opposed to long tomes, enjoy them even. I didn't like this one much.
This book is just fun. The characters are a hoot. I would recommend reading/listening to Work Song first. (which is also delightful).
The story was cleverly written and well narrated. I found it very enjoyable with likeable characters and good narration.
Some have complained about the narration, but I enjoyed it. I think the slow pace at times is reflective of the mood of the somewhat epic story.
The first book I've listened to of Thomas Perry's, and the first book he wrote. I was entertained.
I have not listened to other John Glover's performances, but will.
I thought I'd be disappointed with a different narrator because James Marsters IS Harry Dresden. Without including a spoiler, I'll say that having a different narrator for this book echos the new perspective in the book. Glover does an excellent job!
After about 2 minutes the new narrator seemed right for the book. That's amazing since I've pretty much listened to all the books the series back-to-back over the last year, and I expected to be disappointed. And, the story is good too.
