In The Kingmaker's Daughter, number one New York Times best-selling author Philippa Gregory presents the riveting story of Anne Neville, her sister Isabel, and their ever-changing fortunes. The Kingmaker's Daughter is the gripping and ultimately tragic story of the daughters of the man known as the "Kingmaker", the most powerful magnate in England through the Cousins' Wars. In the absence of a son and heir, he uses the two girls as pawns in his political games.

If you have been following the Cousin's War series, you will certainly want to read this. I love getting all the different perspectives from different players. Fascinating.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Kingmaker's Daughter?

The escape at sea where Isabella went into labor.

The recovery of the magnificent gem in Lord Attenbury's dazzling heirloom launched a shell-shocked young aristocrat on his career as a detective in 1921. Thirty years later, a happily married Lord Peter has just shared the secrets of that mystery with his wife, the detective novelist Harriet Vane. Suddenly, the new Lord Attenbury—grandson of Lord Peter’s first client—seeks his help to prove who owns the emeralds.

Heiress to the red rose of Lancaster, Margaret Beaufort never surrenders her belief that her house is the true ruler of England and that she has a great destiny before her. Her ambitions are disappointed when her sainted cousin Henry VI fails to recognize her as a kindred spirit, and she is even more dismayed when he sinks into madness.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you are really into history, this is OK. But Margaret Beaufort is so nasty and self-centered that it is very hard to work up any sympathy for her. I was tempted often to root against the central character. kind of like the red queen in Alice in Wonderland, but not so amusing.

What other book might you compare The Red Queen to and why?

Of all the Phillipa Gregory books, this is my least favorite.

Did Bianca Amato do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Ms. Amato is a great narrator.
