    "Wonderful Old Style Radio Program"
    Overall

This collection is a great merge of the original Twilight Zone TV programs with an old-style radio theater format. They were fun for our whole family to listen to in the evening and are reminiscent of Radio Mystery Theater.

The idealized childhood of this fictional hero, based on Mark Twain's own early life, is filled with robust good humor and high-spirited adventures. Yet there is also an in-depth experience of the central South of the 1840s. While romping through fun-filled fantasy, Tom Sawyer shows how morally complicated real life can be.

Andrea says: "Well worth a listen"
    "Excellent Family Entertainment"
    Overall

We listened to this book on a long cross country car trip and enjoyed it very much. Our eleven year old son liked it best of all and was ready to listen to more! Having read the book as a teenager and seen countless TV adaptations, I can say that the audio version really does the best job of bringing the story to life and spurring your imagination.

In 1994, retired CBS correspondent Charles Kuralt set out to spend a perfect year in America - traveling to his 12 favorite American places, in just the right month for a visit to each. With his well-known warmth, humor, and insight, he shows them to us now in Charles Kuralt's America.

James says: "You can not go wrong with this one"
    "Wonderful Cultural Travelogue"
    Overall

My family and I played this book as we crossed the country in our minivan and it made a wonderful companion. We thoroughly enjoyed Kuralt's vivid descriptions of places and poignant observations of people. We've listened to segments again and they are still wonderful and witty multiple times over.

  • A Chef's Christmas

Anthony Bourdain, author of Kitchen Confidential, once again brings to light the inner workings of the "culinary underbelly" in his bold reinvention of the traditional Christmas story. At once risqué and charming, A Chef's Christmas is sure to bring holiday cheer to those who make dinner and those who only make reservations.

Anna says: "Typically gritty & fun"
    "Typically gritty & fun"
    Overall

In typical Anthony Bourdain fashion, this is a story told from the gritty perspective of the professional restaurant trade. It's not really new material but a fun adaptation of many of his previous themes and centers around the tricky restaurant season of Christmas. His characters triumph over adversity and rediscover the joy of cooking. This is less of a seasonal Christmas tale and more of an anytime story. It's short and fun and recommended for anyone who is a fan of Bourdain's storytelling talents.
