But when he comes north to inspect his unusual inheritance at Broom Hall in the West Riding, his arrival leads to the most entertaining of ramifications.

After losing her boyfriend, apartment, and job in the same day, Janie Morris can't help wondering what new torment fate has in store. To her utter mortification, Quinn Sullivan- aka Sir McHotpants- witnesses it all then keeps turning up like a pair of shoes you lust after but can't afford. The last thing she expects is for Quinn - the focus of her slightly, albeit harmless, stalkerish tendencies - to make her an offer she can't refuse.

Would you consider the audio edition of Neanderthal Seeks Human to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version. However it is so great to have a title that is fun, but quite intelligent. I loved the hyperbole. Ms. Reid can really wax lyrically. Well done!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved jane, however the story allows you to like Quinn aka Mr. McHotPants just as much

Have you listened to any of Jennifer Grace’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I thought her performance absolutely wonderful. It would be great if she would do the next selection "Neanderthal Marries Human". Her reading brings Janie to life.

If you could take any character from Neanderthal Seeks Human out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Quinn. He is so smooth and complicated, but yet so human.

    Any additional comments?

I would love to be able to listen to Neanderthal Marries Human, My research says that both selections were set to be done in "Audio" and available by May or June of 2014. However it appears audible is only offering us the one selection. I guess i will need to try and find the second selection on my own. I normally can and do wait for a follow-up title to present itself. However, I enjoyed this one so much, this week-end I am going to try and find the next audible title on my own. This really is a "Smart" read.

  • The Days of Anna Madrigal: A Novel (Tales of the City)

Suspenseful, comic, and profoundly moving, the latest novel in Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City series follows one of modern literature's most beloved and indelible characters - Anna Madrigal, the transgender landlady of 28 Barbary Lane - as she embarks on a road trip that will take her deep into her complicated past. Now ninety-two, and committed to the notion of "leaving like a lady," Mrs. Madrigal has seemingly found peace with her "logical family" in San Francisco: her devoted young caretaker, Jake Greenleaf; her former tenant Brian Hawkins and his daughter, Shawna; and Michael Tolliver and Mary Ann Singleton, who have known and loved Anna for nearly four decades.

Would you try another book from Armistead Maupin and/or Kate Mulgrew?

I really enjoyed this series by Armistead Maupin. I would read another novel by him.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

If you followed all of the characters over their life times, they are all equally wonderful. However, this title did not quite stand as tall as the rest of the stories in the series.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Kate Mulgrew?

    She was very good.

Could you see The Days of Anna Madrigal being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

The rest of the series came to TV, so why not this one. I loved Olympia D. In the role of Anna Madrigal. I could see, Shirley MacLaine or Julie Newmar.

The homegrown hotties are on the wish list of every single woman in town and Maggie Wright is no exception. Maggie has finally had it with the men she's been dating but a spilled plate of chili cheese fries drops Shane Chase right into her lap. The sheriff is hot stuff but was burned by a former fiancée and is quite happy to play the field. After Shane's skittishness sends him out the door, Maggie realizes that Kyle Chase has had his eye on her from the start.

    Nothing, it was just weak

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Narrator started off pretty fair, and then as different characters were introduced, it seems the narrator ran out of steam

What disappointed you about The Proposition?

Story has been done to death, but often even knowing that...the narrator can draw you in and make it somewhat enjoyable. However, this misses on both levels. I could not go past 30 minutes.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    One of the classics

Elizabeth Gaskell, famed authour of Cranforn, is cherished for her incise social observations and portrayals of the changing nature of English life through the Industrial Revolution of the Victorian era. Mr. Harrison's Confessions is a warm, funny portrait of life in a small English town. Narrated by the young Doctor Harrison, we follow his practice and his courting in this charming tale.

What didn’t you like about Flo Gibson’s performance?

She is just plain awful. Her voice quality is really bad. Her voice is so hard and raspy. I don't understand why she is narrating so many of these wonderful works.

    "Great Story, Awesome Narrator"
    Overall

Great Story, Awesome narrator equals fabulous audible experience. I really liked this story. The narration is a 10+. She does every voice so well, you can actually see the characters. She does the male voices fabulously, and not wimpy like I have heard on many occassions. Worth the read. I actually went to look for other combinations of this writer and this narrator.
