Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Probably not, because of the reader.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Liked them equally.

What didn’t you like about Scott Brick’s performance?

Wow, did EVERY sentence in this book end with an explanation point .It made it difficult to listen to when the reader sounded like every word and sentence was going to end in an explosive action or comment.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I could only tolerate this reader for 20-30 minutes at a time. Too bad, the book and author are very good.

    Any additional comments?

I'll keep my eyes out for this reader ,so I can avoid him .Sorry , Scott!

Genteel society ladies who compare notes on their husbands' suicides. A hilariously foul-mouthed black drag queen. A voodoo priestess who works her roots in the graveyard at midnight. A prominent antiques dealer who hangs a Nazi flag from his window to disrupt the shooting of a movie. And a redneck gigolo whose conquests describe him as a "walking streak of sex".

I'd seen the movie before and was surprised at how boring this book was. The reader did a nice job but the long(very long) descriptive paragraphs throughout with little action made it difficult to stay with.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

This is a good book for the "teen" years or easy read. I thought there would be more depth to the subject matter,so was somewhat disappointing. I also wasn't very impressed by the ending scene.

It is a society that is, officially, a paradise. Superior to the decadent West, Stalin's Soviet Union is a haven for its citizens, providing for all of their needs: education, health care, security. In exchange, all that is required is their hard work, and their loyalty and faith to the Soviet State. But now a murderer is on the loose.

What did you like best about Child 44? What did you like least?

Interesting look at Soviet life and thinking in post WWII era.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Storyline did have a few unexpected turns and twists

What three words best describe Dennis Boutsikaris’s performance?

Reading was alright.often felt stiff, and occassionally use of accents was not believable.Would have been better without it.

Did Child 44 inspire you to do anything?

The storyline did want one to research the history of the time more.
